Losi Goes Brushless 1/8?

Just came accross this on Xtreme RC/RC411

We were at the track shooting some action shots and we notice the Losi Team was out testing a mysterious new car. You can try to figure out what's missing from that "factory white" Losi 8IGHT. It's not missing color, wheels, a body, or an antenna (okay it's missing that antenna). If you look close you see it's missing an engine, pipe, and if you have XRAY vision a fuel tank.

That silence is the sound of what should be the first production brushless 1/8-scale from a major manufacturer. This will eliminate the cost of buying an entire nitro kit and having to buy a separate conversions (more money). When, where, and how will all be answered when Losi is ready to show the details of the car...but for now if you are thinking about big electrics this will make for many good dreams about silent racing.

i still think i would rather convert it myself. Then i get the gratitude of knowing i created the monster it is. Is cool though.

Hmmm Tommy likey..

make it an eight-t then they'll have something to talk about. I honestly can't stand the look of a buggy. Although my first RC was a Lobo buggy :-(

Yeah, and been able to build it to your own spec and design

I perfer the look of a buggy over a truggy/truck anyday, just truggy/trucks much more easy to drive and being bigger and more stable

Although, factory brushless buggies will really help the push of brushless overall and brushless racing which makes me happy, I am also a little disappointed at the same time that my rc's won't be as unique anymore.

For example, the Traxxas E-Revo and a converted Revo are completely different because of the chassis. But with buggies/truggies, there are only so many ways in which you can convert them. So having a converted buggy/truggy will be pretty much the same as having a factory made BL buggy.

Finally. Main stream. Thats what this class needs. As soon as one does it, the rest will follow in short order. The electric 1/8 class is on the verge now. Not really a big Losi fan, but any one of the major manufacturers finally jumping into the game will be very good for the electric side of the sport. VERY GOOD.

I think it's awesome cause I want to get a 1/8th buggy in the near future. If the major companies bring out factory conversions then there will soon be a class just for the 1/8th electrics. I can say though that I won't be getting one of those as I hate imperial sized screws.

Well, the race is officially on. Now there are two going 1/8 brushless. Caster, along with glassdoctor are designing one as well

dirt101 06.04.2008 07:11 PM

that will be cool.

This is good news for sure. The more competition the better.

brushlessboy16 06.04.2008 07:48 PM

Maybe they paired up with CC and made abrushless rtr

It would be a bold move if this is a Losi creation. Back in the old days Losi was only electric and when they first released the 8ight I was a small bit surprised they didn't roll out an electric brother...guess that would have been far too cutting edge. Oh well I really hope this comes to be, it would be a huge boost to our segment of the hobby.
