pinion lube

Hey my X1-CRT is just about ready to roll but im wondering with running the stock spur (which is metal) and my hardened metal pinion from Mike should I run some open gear lube on my gears?? or will they be just fine dry??

I've never lubed them and they're fine. And as a matter of fact, running lube might be bad because dust/dirt will probably stick to it acting like sandpaper to the gears.

ANother prooduct that works good on metal to metal contact surfaces that are exposed to dirt is called Dri-Slide

You can get it at mcmaster.com in a 40z squeeze bottle for around $10. Its a little messy, but ti is fantastic dry lube that doesnt attract dirt. It actually repels dirt and its designed for high pressure, high temp appications. I use it on spur and pinion and in diff cups and dogbone ends.

I'd post a link but mcmaster.com is based on a pdf catalog it wont work. Just go there and search dri-slide and get the 4oz squeeze bottle. Thats plenty for a long time.

But in reality, you really dont need it. I just like to take as much friction out of the driveline as I can.
