E-Maxx/Revo - wow they are big.
Alright - I admit this may be a little lame, but I was just at the LHS today (don't get there to often as generally they don't carry the higher quality brushless that is predominant around here) and got to talking with the owner and checked out the E-Maxx, Revo, and Revo platinum.
I have to say they are all very high quality looking for RTR, but for some reason I was surprised how big the E-Maxx is. I am no longer surprised at why people are frying their batteries trying to run this thing. That is a really big truck for two NiMH stick packs. I wouldn't even consider running that truck on less that 6S - and probably the same for the upcoming e-revo. Might even prefer to go up to 8S to keep the current low. Also got a look at the 8T - very nice layout! |
I don't have any problems running my Revo on a 4S from TrueRC. The motor is the main heat producer.

Curious - what motor are you running?
That was my main concern - there are batteries up to the task on 4S, but it seems like a motor would get pretty hot on the current required to move something that big around. |
I'm running a Feigao 9XL geared at like 21/64 or 24/64. I can't remember for sure. It really runs pretty hot, though. I'd love to go with 6S, but it wasn't in my budget at the time.

My E-Maxx on 4s TrakPowers with a Neu 1515 1y runs fine. It actually feels a little slow. No heat problems.

I run a new emaxx on 4s (2 trakpowers) with a mm and a plett maxximum. Not sure on the gearing, think it is 20/65. Mine runs around 40mph and has plenty of power, temps are not to bad, maybe 160 on the motor and 140 on the esc.

Cool - good to hear so may people running with good success on 4S.
I think I am a little tainted as my last 4S experience was with the MaxAmps packs, which have since been aggressively sold. ;) Still have the 1512 2.5d, so maybe I'll have to give that another try on 4S with some batter packs and see what happens - |
I too have no problems running a big vehicle on 4S. My Jammin CRT runs a 1515/1y on 4S (2 x 2S Trakpower Packs) without breaking a sweat.
