Making the MMM more reliable?

I see that many people have been having BEC troubles with the MMMs. I wonder if you disable the BEC in it and use the CC BEC, would that solve the problem? Would it prevent the fan from working?

Disabling the BEC via removing the red wire doesn't really disable it, it just keeps it from powering external devices like servos, fans, rx, etc. Even if you do remove the red wire, the internal fan still runs off the internal BEC. The only way to put the fan on an external BEC would be to unplug it from the PCB and route the wires outside the case to your external BEC. The internal BEC would just be powering the brains PCB at that point.

So it wouldn't solve the BEC failing?

No-one really knows yet but alot of guys are having success with that setup

D_Buggy, is that what you're running?

DRIFT_BUGGY 06.09.2008 06:27 PM

That is what I will be running but probably won't get mine up and going for another 2 days

Yeah unless castle can give me a fairly good guarantee that it won't die again I am going to solder in my CCBEC and remove the esc red wire. I want to give my car a bit more of a test run this time.
