TexasSP 06.11.2008 09:42 AM

Glad I don't use nitro!

I bet that's good news to Mike! Hope Neu can keep up with the increase in orders of BL motors.

Hmmm, also makes me wonder if battery prices will go up for a while because demand will increase?

rcmonkey 06.11.2008 12:48 PM

Awwww no the poor nitro people:na:

Now I just wish CC would makes some more Mamba Monsters!

MetalMan 06.11.2008 12:56 PM

This is a sure thing. At the LHS I work at we've been hearing about more than just $45/gallon as stated in the RC Crawler thread, closer to $80/gal. We will see.

But on the other hand, this is good news for the most part .

I think everything is going up due to the cost of energy...

Bad news on the nitro deal, wonder what NHRA, AHRA are going to do??

Thirdgen89GTA 06.11.2008 01:03 PM

The problem is the cost of converting to brushless in the 1/8th scale market. If a manufacturer would make a 1/8th scale buggy that starts as an electric then it would easily become more popular.

I haven't converted any of my cars yet simply because of the cost to do so. At least $450 for every 1/8 I own. I like brushless, I like the fact that I can simply plug it in and go without tuning. However I love the sound of a Nitro screaming past, its sounds like a mini F1. I also like that fact that I don't have to worry about toasting a battery if I shock it too bad with a bad landing.

Traxxas is paving the way with the eRevo. Now if only one of the big 1/8th mfg's would put out an electric kit version of their big nitro 8ths.

I have an unopened can of 20% that i have had for a while....may be I will put it up on e-bay when the shortage hits!!! Sorry nitro .....just kidding

bl-is-future 06.11.2008 01:06 PM

i have 1/2 gal of fuel that has been sitting here since i converted.

I heard rumblings somewhere that at least one man. is working on a brushless setup from the factory. Unfortunately, you can bet it will not be as good as if you by the better components separately...IMO Also, noise is becoming a much bigger issue over the last several years and so BL conversions will be the wave of the future.

I wouldn't call what traxxas is doing with the E-Revo paving the way. It's still considered a 1/10th scale MT and has the same power system as the E-Maxx. It's hardly a revolution IMO.

Actually, a manufacturer already has one designed. They're also ready for pre-orders IIRC.

caster and Losi both seem to be designing an E-1/8 buggy, I am fixing to do my 8T into a brushless truggy
