10s or even 12s on Tekno E-Revo?
At the moment i'm running 6s Tekno converted Revo which i'm pretty happy with
BUT.. i'm a speed freak n love the adrenaline rush so i'm planning to upgrade the power plant to 10s or even 12s (if i can find an ESC for it)... Question is will the stock drivetrain of the revo hold up this amount of power? or do i have to replace it with something that will hold it together? Also with this amount of power, i'll need extra brakes. Can i put a second set of brakes on the revo without touching the diffs? |
I really dont think more brakes are needed. Just get a servo with more than 100 o/z and it should be enough to put the truck on its lid. I know I ran a 125 o/z servo and I could flip the truck forward anytime I wanted.

o ok... nice one :)
i just hope the stock drivetrain will hold together... |
I would get the Revo Hybrid diffs found here:

I'm using a hobby city plane controller in my revo. handles 12s up to 100amps. Not bad for $95. Works great!

With 10S and 12S, be prepared to stock up on drive train parts. You can go the cheap route on the ESC as you are using the mechanical brakes or you can go big $$$$ and get a HV car controller. Depending on you motor, you will have to watch the RPMs closely and just do speed runs. Don't use it for long runs, because you will fry a few things. Good quality lipos will also be a must. Welcome to the HV and speed runs club :lol:.

Are there any after market drivetrains for the revo?
i'm planning to run the MGM 12032, Neu 1515 1.5y (mind you i have Tekno conversion) and two 5s 4900mah NeuEnergy packs... just hope theres an aftermarket drivetrain so i don't have to touch it after every run =] |

you could save a few bucks and go with the 9032 I wouldnt think you would be pulling that much amperage with a 10 or 12s pack, you might also would want to go with the 3d or 2y motor |
Hay Andy85,
You've got a great combo going, you and I are almost dead nuts on our power choices and I’ve been completely stoked with my 6s, but this last weekend I just received (2) 4s 4500mAH 30C bad boys and ran my truck on 8s today and it's stupid fast! I mean in the middle of the soccer field cant keep this thing pegged and stable kind of fast, I cant even think of the amount of damage and carnage you'll do to your truck if your not fully prepared for it or just plane don’t care what you brake??, 10 /12s is insane power and if you don’t have the proper drive train to handle it you wont have much of a drive train left. But hay it makes for great reading and sounds like a fun experiment so I say GO FOR IT!.. :yipi: |

ive got enough of the same type of cells to run the revo on 8s... but i think i'll SKIP 8 n just go on to 10s.... 12s would be the better choice since i've got a 6s pack already but i COULD be happy with 10s and again.... drivetrain is the no.1 issue of all time :cry::cry::cry::cry: |
look up some posts from Jzemaxx he had a 18 Lb truck that would go 80mph and he had a similar setup that you are thinking of

thanks for that :smile::smile: |
