gearing 9L in e-maxx

ok im after some advise in gearing my 9L with a 9920 just ran it for 10min before it thermaled the ESC didnt feel to hot but the motor was roasting so first of all

Does it thermal when the motor gets to hot? or only for the ESC

secondly it wheelies (on to lid) in both gears so i would like to gear up but wouldnt this make it run hotter?

The 9920 will have no idea what the motor's temperature is, only its own.

Wheelies just come from the power of brushless. If you are undergeared, the motor will get hot, but the controller will stay cooler. If you are overgeared, the motor will get hot, but so will the controller. When geared properly, there should be enough power to flip your E-Maxx in 2nd gear.

I'm running 16/66 on my 9L. The motor gets kinda hot but the 18120 only gets warm. I need to invest in a temp. gun.

I was able to flip over the emaxx while rolling in second gear with a Basic 4200 on 3S lipos.... 64/15 gearing...

It should be pretty easy to flip that thing over with a 9L...

I just bought a 7xl, i wonder how well it'll move the maxx...

How many cells are y ou running..?? I'm running 11.1 Volts.

for that 9L , I would run 16 or 17 cells...
