CRT X2 project

Gentlemen,

Inspired by droopy & recent success in converting a CR X1 buggy, I've decided to embark on a truggy conversion. Oh also I'm having a lot of fun driving my Thunder Tiget ST-1 pro truggy with a nitro GO 25 Turbo head. Very fast, power & handles better than a buggy over the rough stuff & jumps (i.e. easier & more forgiving - perfect for an "expert" driver like me:party:).

Anyway, I have a kit on the way from my LHS. Should be here next week. I have ordered a blue Neu 1515 2200KV motor. I intend to run 5S using a Mamba Monster.

I have also consulted someone in the know as to whether there is any difference between the center diff mount of th X1 & X2. Apparently, the X2 sports a smaller center diff - 48T ! This is the same as the buggy. So, now I'm thinking how to proceed as I have emailed Monster Mike for a CRT mount. Maybe I should change & order a buggy mount ? Decision decisions...

I will likely use a PQ 5S 6000mah 25C lipo. In addition, I'm also thinking of using mechanical brakes as well. What do u think ?

Gearing will be 13/48. Not sure what is the stock clutch bell size...

Here are some pics I found :

Cool, I saw these were coming out. I am thinking of doing a truggy and I'm laning towards the MBX5T they have for $499, but I wanted to see what the X2 was about as well. Aside from small diff gears, big bores and a longer chassis, I want to know what is changed and what is in common w/ the X1. May be easier to get X2 parts @ the LHS. I'll be waiting to hear how it drives.

Joe - How much are they over there? They arn't available yet in the usa... Would you ship a couple to the USA?

The 2200 on 5s could be a bit much - Mike runs the 2.5D in his 8T - I have one too for my LSP - Runs great and gears up...

Fin - This is why I'm trying to sell the LSP... :) then I can have:

Brushless Jammin X1CR Pro
Brushless Jammin Crt.5 Pro x2
Brushless Jammin X2CRT

anybody knows if the rcmonster motor mount for the x1crt will work on the new x2crt?

Arct1k 06.13.2008 07:48 PM

The guess is the buggy mount ATM

Well, some time has gone & I'm still X2 less. The 1 week wait turned out to b a 1 month wait as apparenty i live in the backwaters & the big cities get theirs first. Anyway, my LHS says the kit is on the way with plain packaging. In fact he asked whether I would mind getting a plain box instead of the usual pretty ones as the factory was lagging behind the packaging department. Told him to get it here already, not gonna wait another month for nice packaging.

I'm still waiting for the neu & MMM from Impakt & a MMM & battery tray from Mike. I also feel that perhaps a 2200KV motor on 5S is a little too much & ordered a 2050 Nue 1515 from CC direct just now.

I am on the verge of buying some batteries. I was set on the PQ 5S5000mah 25C lipo. I want to make 30 minutes of runtime in hot & humid conditions. Do u think it will b enough ? Maybe I should get a PQ6S6000mah ? Any advice ?

I am worried as I read here that the CRX1 buggy mount won't fit the X2 without modification. Another obstacle in the way to an electric truggy.

Regards,
Joe Ling

PS : my MMM ver1 died & my buggy is waiting a transplant :=(

i just ran the x1 today i run a 1515 1y on 4s and it runs super cool, i dunno about the motor mount tho, e-mail mike is what i would do

Joe as you know i have converted my X2 using the TeknoRC mount but had to brace the centre diff to the rear chassis brace to stop centre chassis flex , since the mount is seperate from the diff .

I aslo have a CR mount coming from Mike to try out as he seemed to think a couple of guys are already using it in the X2 .
I posted a thread on this but they haven't responded yet so will let you know when i get it

Thanks for the info. The Tekno mount looks really interesting.

Whew, after a long wait, something is happening :

There is a small problem to fit the BL motor mount as there is a chassis brace in the way. The way out of this is to cut a notch at the motor mount where there is interference (I think).

Well, I'm under pressure to slap some nitro stuff onto this chassis as it's the first X2 is my part of the country.

Joe Ling

PS : sorry about the poor lighting. Took the shots at night under the glare of the incandescent light.

ffactory666 08.05.2008 04:25 AM

Joe which mount did you go with ?

If you notched the mount will it fit ok with the center brace .

MIke has shipped my CR buggy mount out so should have it by Monday but if you are already trying out the buggy mount and the centre brace is the only porblem to get it to fit that's great news .

I'm hoping so , that way i can remove the Tekno mount in my X2 and get rid of the centre bracing i had to run with that mount.

big greg 08.05.2008 07:05 AM

that thing looks good, not much different than the x1 it seems
