Planning on upgrading the electronics in my revo...
At the moment, I am running a MM ESC with Koolflight UBEC, and a Feigao 9xl motor on a TrueRC 4s2p 8K lipo pack. I love this set up (besides for the hot motor) as it has been working perfectly for me for quite a while now. But I would like to go to a little higher quality motor and battery. I pre-ordered a MMM from RCM at teh beginning of May from the second batch, so once that comes in, I can make the order for a new motor/battery.
I have two options, leave the electronics in my Revo as they are, since they are working fine and put the MMM in my CRT.5 which is running 4s. Or I can put the MM ESC with UBEC in the CRT.5 (stock chassis... barely be able to fit it all) and put the MMM in the revo with a Neu 1515/2.5d running off 5s or 6s. That brings me to my next question. Which would be more efficient? Running 5s on the 1515/2.5d and gearing up, or running 6s on it and gearing down? I am leaning towards 6s because it is only 36,630rpm, and if I ever need to show off to the nitro's, I will have the power on hand. So if you guys can give me your opinions on what you would do if you were in my position, that would be great. Thanks! |

I am using the stock tranny locked into 2nd gear with the wide ratio gear set. Spur/pinion is 38/18... so basically the exact set up as you are running.

I run the 1.5d geared 22/58 (3905 tranny) on my erevo, with a pair of 4s lipo's at the track all day w/o issues, max speed is 50mph and is PERFECT for racing.. I can show up just about anyone I've come by.. drop in a 5s or 6s and with the same gearing I can easily get to 62mph with a long run way I'm sure I could get 65mph on the 6s. Change up gearing and 70mph is possible. I run the MMM w/ the Neu 1515 1.5d and again it is perfect iMO.
Here is a youtube of just some onroad runs to give you an idea... sorry not track video yet.. but I've run about 10x now approx 1-2hour sessions ea visit w/o problems.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=85v85Pn3DMk http://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...h/IMG_4188.jpghttp://i172.photobucket.com/albums/w...h/IMG_4098.jpg |
That is good to hear that I won't need to change gearing azjc.
stum - how are the temps of the motor after a hard run on the track? |
