help Hybred ---Bulks--- and something else

Hi,
The other day my maxx started clicking when I hit the throttle hard. It looked like the front tires were spinning and dragging the back around.

I thought it was the rear diff, so I just ordered a set of the FLM hybred bulks and HB harderned gears etc...

1st, Well All the parts are here now (Thanks M. Mike). But I don't have any diagrams on how the hole thing goes togeather. any links?

2nd, As I took the old rear diff out, I took it apart to look at the damage. I did not see any at all. Is there something else that I may have broke that causes a similar issue?

I want to make it more reliable, as I have been having a hard time getting through more then a pack or 2 before something breaks anyways. I am getting pretty close to all the recommended upgrades. So I will put in the FLM hybreds either way. I just don't want to put the whole thing together to find out I missed the problem.

Did you check the center drive shafts? If you bought the drop in gears all you have to do is shim them and the fit right together

Edit: here i found it, a thread on how to shim and put diff together:

I'm not aware of any instructions specifically for what you're looking to do. Ck these out - the Ultralight Diffs for 6 gears will be closest to what you're doing. UE instructions are very detailed and illustrated so you should get the idea on what you need to do to assemble/shim your diffs.

As far as the clicking - I've read a lot of times you will not find anything that looks wrong - its play/clearance related if its really the diffs. Sometimes only way is to push it til it fails. Def ck all the shafts - drive pins tend to back out, ck brgs in the wheels - one can be going bad and making noise.

Yeah, sometimes diffs can click, but still look ok (for a while). Could be worth checking your wheel hexes as well, because they can round out and make it look like you have a diff problem.

Does yours have the rear diff spool? (Locks the rear diff)

I had that kit in one of my old Maxx's, and I was constantly snapping off the screws. And it reacted the same way you described. Make sure one of those four little screws isnt sheared off.

Wheel/hexs are OK

No spool

I am starting to put the FLX hybreds together. Hope that fixes the issue.

Just want to make sure. The rubber o-rings go inside the diff case not on the ourtside. I did not shime the spider gears (I think that is what they are called) however it looks like I could use a shim on the pinion to fully seat it on the ring gear.

Does this sound common?

Where is the best place to get shims?

The only thing I had to shim was the pinion gear with these:

pictures!, where are the pictures??

You will love those FLM Hybrid diffs (tuff as nails)..

Best of luck with your re-build.
