MGM 16016-3s -- BEC how many cells?

I'm having trouble understanding the manual for the MGM 16016 regarding the built in BEC. Some have mega BEC+, but the 16016 says OPTO. What is OPTO and how many cells is ok to use with it?

Is the switch that comes wired to the controller for BEC, or is it for the whole controller? i.e. if switched off is current being drawn from the batteries?

Mike -- it might be nice to mention that no wire or connections come with the controller, as now I have to order more wire. Luckily I ordered two sets of connectors to have extra, which is just enough to wire it up.
Thanks!

The MGM 16016 can handle up to 12cells or 4s Lipo on the BEC. Any higher, and you need an external power source for the receiver. To keep the controller's BEC off, you can remove the red wire from the receiver plug.

I to am planing on getting the 16016,but my question is this, this unit has voltage cutoff for lipo cells but since I already have the FMA Scorpion lipo with built-in cutoffs will I be able to get around the 16016's setup?

Yes, you can. Just program it for NiMh mode, and it won't have any cutoff.

Jonathan,
I think you only actually ordered one set of connectors. I threw the extra set in because I figured that you were using them for the controller. Good call on the wire, though. I thought I listed the plugs in the controller listing, but I will edit the listing to recommend some wire as well.
The switch turns off the signal to the controller, but power will still go through it when it is plugged in-don't leave it plugged in for ny length of time without using it. As Trvis mentioned, simply remove the red receiver plug wire to disable the BEC.

Yeah, I only ordered one set of connectors, and that's all that was in the package with the controller. I ordered a 2nd set with my 7XL motor, but unfortunately they fell out of the package along with the motor so now I'm just looking at the package about to go crazy...this hobby is supposed to be relaxing?!?!?
