Sorry another lipo question
 

The min volts for my lipo is 3v per cell. What does that mean? I mean when?....under a large draw or at rest? I was out playing around and noticed my truck slowing down alot so I stopped. I quickly checked it and it was 16.0v. I gave it 15 min and rechecked it and it was 16.4. I went to charge it and the cells were all about 3.25ish and the volts shot up to 17.9 only after a few seconds of charginging. Am I ok? Does all sound normal? Thanks.

#v per cell is the lowest you can discharge a lipo without risking the cells undergoing a chemical reaction and outgassing. As long as you set your lvc properly you should not have an issue. Lipos will regain some voltage as they cool down after a hard run.

It's setup for 15.3v but it didn't hit it before my truck slowed down. Is that ok?

It's fine. The LVC will trip when the battery reaches the set voltage. You saw 16v, but that was not under load and a short rest. Any battery voltage will drop when running.

The charging voltages you saw are normal. Lipos have a fairly flat discharge curve. Meaning, they stay at ~3.7v/cell for the majority of the cycle. At the end of the cycle, they drop off to 3v/cell quickly, but that also means they charge from 3v to 3.7v quickly as well.

If the power drop off is that noticable before you damage anything then why run a LVC? I'm going to be running a 6S and I'm going to have to find something that will work or run without. I'm starting to wonder if my LVC is working right.

Because the Lvc is a positve stop, its safer, and not all lipos just dump..

unless you wanna pay for another battery, run the LVC

If you are running the truck hard you will notice the loss of power. If you are not running hard it can creep up on you. I can usually tell before I hit the lvc, but I still set it anyway. Plus I set it for 3.2v per cell for a little "cushion" in case one cell discharges faster than the others.

I still run mine on 5S but won't be able too on 6S. I'll set the lvc at 16v and see what that does tonight. If it hits before I notice power loss then I'll get a lvc of some sort if I notice power dropping before then I won't mess with it. All in all for the most part I don't even run my truck for that long. I got around 37min last night of very hard running on open asphalt with a 4000mah bat.
