Just thinking....crazy idea

With all the different brands of lipos and some companys over rating the c; I had an idea.

Keep the laughing to a min. please.

What if you hooked up a lipo to the right light bulb(will take some time to find one that specs to what is needed) wire in a amp meter and a volt meter then connected everything and use a stop watch to keep time. Would this be a decent way of judging lipos if you had several from different companys? I imagine this probably sounds really stupid but I think there might be some merit in it(if you found the right light bulb). It wouldn't even be a shadow in comparision to those machines designed for discharging but could it still give you som idea of the performance of a lipo? OK now laugh all you want. thanks.

OK it doesn't even have to be a light bulb anything that pulls a fairly constant amount of amps. Say maybe a one of those dc blower fans. I have one that pulls around 17 amps which isn't enough in my head but maybe it is. Just thinking out loud.

Finding a lipos true C rating has been discussed in depth in a few threads a while back. It was decided the best way to do it is with a proper simulated load device- you can vary the load (in amps) and it will read out the voltage the lipo produces at that load, so you can see what it takes to make its voltage drop to/below 3.0v per cell = true C rating. Only issue was such a testing device costs about $500, and is usually used by garages to test 12v lead acid batteries and such things.
