CRT.5 Mount - anyone else had this?
 

Well as far as a review goes, the mount has been great - did what it was meant to. There needs to be little nicks out of the corner where the brace bolts on at the top if you want to run mech brakes, but I dont think many people would on this little thing.

I've been having glitching problems with my CRT.5 lately and today I thought I had all my problems solved, then it glitched full throttle into a gutter.

Surprisingly, nothing really broke, but it somehow bent the mount pretty bad

Anyone else see this happen?

Mike - how much extra would it cost to get it made a bit thicker or something? I'm pretty unco and might hit a gutter head on one day while in in control of the vehicle.

I'll bend it back for now, but in my experience alu doesnt take kindly to being bent back and forth a lot...

Surprisingly nothing else on the car was damaged at all. Tough little thing it is!

I decided the L can motor was too big for it, so I've put my ammo 3300 in the crt and the 9L in the rusty (its a little loose on the back, so it could do with some more weight there ;))

That said, now I have a 2700kv motor on my rusty, and I just dont think 3s A123 will push it hard enough... Any idea if sidewinders like 4s A123?

Should be fine but would use a bec...

The CRT.5 mount is the thinnest of our mounts, but it should be plenty strong in normal use(150 or so out there and this is the first bent one I have heard of). A large motor with a large pinion(putting motor at the end of the mount) may be asking a lot of the mount - the motor area is .15" thick(3.8mm), though - it must have been a healthy impact to cause this bend - surprised the chassis isn't tweaked.

Mike, I think the new ones are weaker than the old ones with all the new cuts on the sides of the mount. I believe more cuts will save more weight and provide greater air circulation, but decrease durability a bit.

Not really, Allawi - the excess material was only removed from areas that don't have any load - and sometimes removing material actually creates stronger parts due to more surface tension(more surfaces). :)

Surprisingly nothing else is damaged at all - chassis is fine. I definitely wasn't geared tall either - 12/36 with a Feigao 9L on 4S A123.

I hit the gutter dead on - not at top speed, but the throttle was full open and I wouldve had about a 3m straight before it - so it was go fairly quick. I'm pretty surprised the mount bent, it was damn hard bending it back, and no its not perfect at all - still is pretty straight though... I really shouldve got another one in that last order I just did but did have the $ :(

Next time... I need to get a hyper mount too.

Wow, the mount would be the last thing I would expect to bend. I've broken just about everything else on my CRT.5 but the mount is perfect. And I'm pretty much doing things to my poor CRT.5 that it was never designed to do. :mdr:

one question where does the battery go?
