Slash Or Desert Truck ?
hey guys, just what the title says what would you go for in form of Upgradeability (is that a word?), company rep, value for money and any other point u may think off. and ofcourse we are talking about Traxxas Slash Vs Losi Desert Truck :)

This topic has been coming up alot (on other forums) and must people go with the DT as it handles much better, the losi comes with better gear - motor (I got 4 battery packs out of my Traxxas Titan motor), esc, aluminum shock bodies, DSM radio (traxxas one is just garbage) and the DT has a extended chassis over the XXX-T to accommodate LiPo batteries. Losi is a much better buy by far

I don't know what you've been reading DRIFT_BUGGY, but I find that to be the opposite on the forums I frequent. Most folks are buying the Slash because it's not just a simple "lipstick on a pig" approach to a new vehicle like the Losi DT. The scale looks, durability and waterproof electronics easily set the Slash apart from the DT. It's really up to what you want Yogy, but here's a few links to show you just what the Slash is all about:

Get something new the Slash.
IDK about the DT, all I've seen in stores is that puke brown color one. My splash is killer to drive w/ brush less system. I like the scale look alot but it also handles awesome.

There is a thread on rctech (well there is probably 1000 threads on this on rctech) http://www.rctech.net/forum/showthread.php?t=228632
and you can read feedback about the two Slash - http://www.rctech.net/forum/showthread.php?t=216695 Desert Truck - http://www.rctech.net/forum/showthread.php?t=214377 |
I've read all those threads already. I still don't know how you come to the conclusion that most people are buying the DT instead of the Slash?!? Hmm, 30 pages on one Slash thread and a whopping 3 pages on the DT. Do you really think the DT is more popular?
|
Slash is probably more popular due to being bigger, something new and looks more like the racing trucks due to the body being bigger
|
I dunno. The Slash is a blast to drive, even with the crappy stock motor. True, the radio blows though. The Slash already has some aftermarket support since there are a few items on the Slash that are the same as on the Stampede/Rustler (RPM arms/shocktowers, stock spur options, etc). The Slash platform has been around a long time in the form of the Pede design, so it works. And the gears are already metal, so it's BL-ready IMO. And I really like the body totally covering the wheels for some reason. Makes me want to get a cheap 1/8 scale buggy and modify it for the Slash body.

Yeah, the old F-150 body off the old Kyosho 1/8 would be sweet, not sure if they are still made though
|
the slash will have a HUGE following, i think almost every racing organization will have spec classes for them and such, plus have you seen the comercial on TV ?????? its pretty cool. ill have mine this weekend

Check out this video of Slash's racing

Out the box the Losi would be a better buy but if you got extra money to be able to get some better features (radio, motor/esc) on the Slash then go the Slash
|

You'll probably be a little surprised in the size difference between the Slash and a 1/10 truck
