Basic throttle response with brushless system

Hi,
I just got a used Lehner 5400 and warrior 7080 for my Losi xxx-4G+. I've set-up the the ESC per the instructions but I don't get an immediate throttle response. What happens is that I have to give a small amount of throttle (forward or reverse) before being able to pull full throttle and have the buggy take-off. Is this common? and can I turn this feature off?

It's annoying because if I don't give just the right amount of mild throttle input and then try to goose it, it doesn’t move.

Welcome to the forums, Tom. I am guessing that you are only using 6 cells, which is a known flaw with the warrior controllers. The BEC cutoff is set at 5.5 volts, which causes the controller to cut power to the motor. A 6 or 7 cell battery pack will drop voltage below this threshold on hard acceleration/takeoff, which causes the vehicle to not move. The fix is to install a receiver pack to bypass the BEC voltage cutoff of the controller.

Thanks Mike! It's good to know there's a fix and it's not something I have to live with.

Regards,
Tom
