Sidewinder on 5s?

If you disable the BEC and LVC, like what you have to do with the MM, would 5s work? I'd probably run one of Takedown's external cap boards as well.

I see the magic smoke come out if you try it.

Is there a reason the MM works on 5s but not the SW?

The MM doesnt always work on 5s- its 50/50 at best; someone fried their MM when they tried 5s back along, even with a BEC and other mods.

The sidewinder is a smaller, lower capacity version of the MM- 4s would be pushing your luck on that esc, let alone 5s.

Ok. Bad idea.

Actually I was thinking that but it uses the same FETS (just less) and the same caps so you might be able to take the voltage. It depends on what application you are using it in though. You might be able to use it in a 2wd stadium truck but I doubt in a CRT .5

BL_RV0 06.30.2008 05:51 PM

I doubt even more that it would work-- It'd be in a 1/8 buggy.

Arct1k 06.30.2008 05:54 PM

I think thats an affirmative on the negative...

I dont think you would fry it from the voltage. It might not boot up, but It probably wouldnt fry. It does use the same components as the MM, just less of them.

A 1/8 buggy on a sidewinder would be a no way. Not a chance and any voltage. Well... maybe if you geared it for 7 mph.
