crt.5 how to hold a 6000mah in there?
 

Hi, i just finished my conversion and i want to use a 6000mah 7.4 maxamp, i guess i will have to place it on it's side if i don't want the batt to hot the spur or being too far outside the chassis. So my question is, how do you hold the batterie there? the stock battery mount from the rc-monster kit is not tall and long enough, the bracket is too short, and the poles not long enough and how do you make sure it will not move and hit the spur gear?
after that, it's ready to hit the dirt!!!
i just glued a new set of dirt hawg II for bashing!!

Oh, very last question, the stock body is not long enough since i had the 1st version of the crt.5 with the short chassis, what kind of body should i used?

glad this question was brought up as that's the exact pack I would be using. Currently debating on this conversion or an indoor carpet oval car. Nothing is going to happen immedietly so I guess I'll see what you come up with, post some pics and etails please!

Man i hate you!!!:lol: now i need to do this since it's really a nice clean way to fix the batt, you just used foam that you glued there on the aluminium tray that you made? did you just used a normal alu sheet to do it?

mike made me a longer one, and i just used spacers and longer screws to make the posts taller, you can contact him and give him a measurement , this is a 5k 3s maxamps pack btw..

this set up is nice too, but the one of the previous post seems to work better, the batt can't get out of the frame this way!
if i'm not able to make one, i will just make a longer strap and use spacer,

Here is just another option to think about. Probably the easiest of the bunch. There are two posts where the two blue knobs are, and I simply used two velcro straps... one horizontally, and another vertically. The battery is also VERY secure this way. No movement by it at all during any type of bashing.

And did you make any hole in the chassis for the other strap?

I made one hole, for the post farther in the picture. The one up front opposite the steering already had a hole in the chassis.

The foam is just some adhesive-backed craft foam from the craft section at Wal-Mart. Comes in a 8.5 x 11 x ~1/16". Just cut, peel, and stick. Cheap too.

The metal is ~1.5mm thick 6061-T6 from onlinemetals.com cut and bent into shape.

Here is my setup, it can handle really long lipo's and it uses the exisiting motor mount holes so you don't need to drill holes in the chassis. It is basically a flat plate with a small aluminum bar stock bolted to it, and this piece bolts to the chassis. the battery is held with a combination of velcro and a strap. The plate is very rigid and keeps the battery from hitting the spur.

Just make the plate as long as you need for the length of the battery your using.

what motor are you guys using and what speeds are you getting? I'm looking into doing this build and would like to be running mid 30's on 2S lipo

the set up with the 2 velcro strap is nice and cheap, are you using a t4 batt, bracket

I am using a Lehner XL2400 on a Flightpower 4s 4270mah pack. ESC is a MM with UBEC. :yes: It absolutely rips! It accelerates faster than I have ever seen an rc accelerate. :whistle:
