nice find. If I do another buggy that would probably be my first choice. I want to run 2 packs since I already have that style for my e-revo and rcpd stuff is just to expensive.

When looking at the CC conversion at RCX this year, it seemed almost identical to Mike's conversions. The only/main different I saw was that their motor mount was much thicker. But other than that, Mike still has the original conversion and now everyone is copying his mounts...

The battery trays will be black aswell, not that pinkish color

Mike, do you read me?

How about a similar kit to this one with your own flavor?

tc3_racer_001 07.04.2008 06:52 PM

or for different cars not previously mentioned... that would be easier to sell i think with much less/if any competition. theres not just a few buggies in the world...

Looks much nicer than the Novak hackjob, but I think homebrew conversions will still be king. I really don't like how far the batts are from the center, and really how far they hang off the chassis. There is barely any chassis under them. I can't see this as being really durable. Much nicer trays tho integrated into the mudguards. If you are going to make something mass market, at least make it look nice. I hate the novak kit, looks so haphazard and is limited to their stupid HV motors. Boo novak, CC owns you again.

Look at this:
Where is that batt going? And all the weight in in the rear? Plus that ESC looks like it was designed in Soviet Russia. Still has two Deans plugs and its as big as a Tu-95. I won't even mention the rats nest of wiring and a fricken fan on the motor.

Never knew RCPD made dual battery tray kit like that

gixxer 07.05.2008 09:05 AM

they do but its on the expensive side. Nice quality but you are going to pay for it.

The kit looks good to me. I don't think they've aimed to "copy" anyone...it's just that the one-piece motor mount/centre diff bulk design is the best design to use; it's proven. Having the batteries mounted off each side of the chassis obviously isn't ideal, but it seems to me that this kit is a stop-gap so that those with nitro buggies (and who might not be too mechanically inclined) can easily convert without having to do any custom work. As soon as factory-design electric 1/8th buggies start appearing on the market, conversion kits will soon disappear.
Think of this like the old truggy conversion kits that you used to be able to buy for buggies.

Novak Conversion

I am new to posting but I have been reading for some time, but I thought I could add to this post since I just got the Novak set up. It is for an older XB8 and I will say it is more involved that the first glance would indicate. Also the battery trays are much nicer in person than the pictures and you can place them most anywhere you like to balance your buggy. Also Novak stuff is available and as long as you follow the directions it does work. I own Castle stuff too, it is very nice, but given their track record it may be awhile before the Castle stuff is available.

But you have to admit, it was bound to happen sooner or later...
