I've done this for 3 years now!

5.0% cash back on Gas and Groceries
1.5% cash back on all purchases

I might have to look into that. Our Mastercard used to have 5% cash back on the same items, but has since gone to 2% with a $300 cash back maximum.

However, for anyone that has a Discover card, if you sign up online to their rewards, Gas is 5% cash back from July-September.

Not to sound like an asshole, but where do you think that 5% comes from? It comes back out of the money paid by the cc to the merchant. I do not accept reward cards at my shop, on principle that you can pay for your own shit, why should I take a hit on my profit. So it only makes sense that most places that accept these cards are marking the prices up to account for the rewards. So you are paying more, and so am I, and I do not have a reward card. I know what your thinking, James, get a reward card and play the game like the rest of us do. Well, I do not like games...

"Time to get on my soap box" I realize that the credit situation in America will most likely be the downfall of this society. With so much debt being written off, the responsible people are taking the hit. We are all paying higher prices for everything because of all this "free" money that is handed out to people who cannot afford it, or manage it. Why should I have to pay for someone elses stupidity? There should be strict laws about non-payment. Make the people work it of, sweeping the streets, or manually cutting grass. Or draft them all to be used as cannon fodder during wars.

I have my own methods of getting around this situation (called stealing and lieing) and will continue to do this. I would personally like to get a bunch of high limit cards, buy a ton of property in a non-extradition country, and bugger off there. And let the genral american public pay the bills for me!!!!

heres a thought......the doctors tell you that you only have 3 moths to live so you decied to party, travel around the world , and rack up your dept in the thousands of dollars knowing you will die soon...than at the end of the 3 months the doctors tell you you have been saved and you arent going to die "its a miracle"...lol...wouldnt that be a pisser.....

Linc - Fully aware but that is the system - I have no issues with gas stations that run two prices cash and credit - For those that don't well I'll jsut take my 5%.

was thinking of doing that with a car.

id like to get my credit card on my own.
