A123 to Hyperion balance adaptor
Guys, does anyone have A123 packs and a Hyperion Balancer? The balance plug on my A123 pack is a small 3 pin connector, but all of the ports on my balance adaptor are a minimum of 6 pin (the 2S plug). I can get the A123 to plug into the 2S port, but it just doesnt seem right. Is there an adpator cable that I need for this? BTW, I have the Duo, that comes with the multiplug adaptor. Thanks!

I use A123 and Hyperion EOS0606i and they work fine. Well I requested for Hyperion taps on my A123 packs. Do you have the balancer adapter for 2S-6S?
Check this link they have the diagram and photo http://media.hyperion.hk/dn/eos/ |
ill get u pa pic soon. i brought thet a123 racing 2s2p packs really cheap (1/2 price) which made it worthwhile getting them. but they had a weird servo sorta connector on them. what i did was cut the deans off, soldered on 8mm bullets (the only thing i have) and wired a hyperion adaptor onto it. let me take a pic and ill upload it here of one stock and one moddded.

Forgive me I misread your thread, Ill take pic of my setup later...
Maybe you can post a pic of your A123 connector.... |
I made this goofy thing to balance them. Wired for 2s and 3s for my blinky.

I was up at my local hobby shop, and unless they bought thiers off ebay and are reselling them, they have the same ends on them. So I gotta think that what you had, and what I have, is the "standard" A123 plug. Quote:

If you can fit it into the hyperion slots, you will need to use the 4s slot (or direct to the charger body) with the negative and positive polarized as normal, with the outer negative cell wire on the negative outer pin.

lol, sounds like a good candidate for a diagram!

photo would really help

Only one wire going into the tap? You are gonna have to dissect the pack or make a funky harness if you want to balance, not that it is really needed on 2s.
|
Yep, only one wire. That's kinda what has me scratchin' my head too. I'd take a picture of it, but the wife took the camera with her and she's gone till Wednesday.
They are 2S2P packs, so there are 4 cells (6.6V, 4600mah). |
you will need to make an adapter that puts the negative pack, middle, and positive pack wire into a tap. Then you will still need your main pack wires going into the charger.
I say you don't need to worry about balancing with only two cells. Just measure them periodically with a voltmeter to be sure they are within .2v of each other. |
A123 just use the main power lines for + and -'ve and hence just need 1 line for 2s between the cells and 2 points for 3s.
Hyperion taps are different and have + and -'ve along with the intermediate points within the tap. As John says you can just create your own +'ve and -'ve points off of the deans connector and build a hyperion tap connector. The LBA 10 manual includes the wiring diagram for the taps. see here http://aircraft-world.com/prod_datas...ba10/lba10.pdf Standalone male taps can be purchased here http://www.allerc.com/product_info.php?products_id=3169 for $2.25 or this for http://www.allerc.com/product_info.p...oducts_id=1884 $1.89 The easiest way is to: - buy this second tap http://www.allerc.com/product_info.p...oducts_id=1884 - Use this http://aircraft-world.com/prod_datas...ba10/lba10.pdf to reconfigure to a 2s pack i.e. 3 wires - 1 red and 2 black - Red goes to +'ve on deans - Lowest black (furthest from red) goes to -'ve (black) on deans - Middle black joins to A123 tap |
