Need to ship back my 9032 for update, any reason to actually put $15 on the customs tag and send thru postal service? Makes me a bit leary...

Would it be better to insure and declare full value (~$400) or even get DHL to ship? Or will it be fine? I do not want to lose this controller.

I know this has been asked a number of times, but still..

just send it with tracking.
i must admit , i sent mine from australia 3weeks ago and havent heard anything back , i left a note in the package saying if there is any problems just email me ..

customer service for mgm , not so good !

I think i'd be using UPS / Fedex / DHL - No so worried about insurance but tracked from point to point...

The problem with insurance is that you are gambling with your own money if you do not use it. If you paid several hundred $$$ for an electronic controller and you do not insure it, what happens if it gets lost, broken, or stolen? For a few dollars if anything happens to it, you at least get paid for your loss. If you fail to insure it you lose your investment completely. Sure it does not happen too often, but why take the chance just to save a few bucks. Postal insurance is relitively cheap in comparison to the losses you can suffer. Good luck with you decision and your shipment. :lol:

Just tell the teller you are sending it for repair (Just write: Toy part for repair, no commercial value), but the value of the controller will not be accounted for and the actual cost is $500 which I'll add insurance on. You only declare a value if you're selling something.

Wow Lutach I never heard that one before. Does that save you money on the shipment, or is there some other gain for doing it that way? That's curious.

No, I would rather be safe then sorry. If anyone send an item overseas for repair there is no commercial value at all. The person is not selling so you can't declare anything. The insurance is basically there for the few instances that a package does get lost or damaged. The value I posted is just an example, but can be used. I used the controller's price to ship my 2 MGM to fellow members here.

Apparently the only reason would be a delay in Czech customs with the higher dollar amount, from what I understand. I sent mine via priority mail international with tracking, value of $9.95. Total time out was nearly 2 months. Others here have sent theirs out with low value and I have not heard of any getting lost yet.

Hmm.. I thought that if you insured for a high amt and then declared for a low amt that would flag customs, but what you are saying makes sense. I was hesitant to insure for $400 then write $10 on the customs. International Priority may be the way to go then for the "repair"

A declared value is only needed if the item was being sold. Not for repair. Have you seen that some places don't ship to Brasil anymore. Customs there is a joke. I only ship to Brasil if my customers really insist and are ready to pay up to 100% or more for duties. You can add as much insurance tat you want incase anything is lost or damaged, but you have to declare "No commercial value", because you are not selling it.

Thanks so much for clearing this up. Must say I never really ship anything overseas. Perhaps Grisa should update his shipping instructions to say this, I like this so much better.

Just send it to wallot. Then he can mail it to MGM and they will see an address from Czech. It will probably be fixed faster...

package arriving from abroad goes through customs so it would go throu them going to me anyway

just put on the customs declaration - rc car part for service with 0 value. thats what I did when I sent year ago quark to US for repair
