slash... best motor?
 

hello everyone, i got a traxxas slash a few days ago
i already have a MM and im soon to be geting a 3s lipo
so looking for suggestions on which motor to go for? dont realy have a budget at the moment as i will just see what there is
the only two motors i realy know of are the mamba 5700 which i have heard good things about and it is also waterproof which is a big plus as the rest of the slash is
and then the velineon which seems to be the preferred motor on the traxxas forums(i wonder why:oh:)

a feagio 9L works GREAT, all the power youd ever need in a slash, and doesnt even get hot to boot, i also get over 45mins of runtime on my 5000 3s, you have to becareful about it tho as mine blew one of the rear tires apart, not from hitting the body either just came on to the front straight gassed on it and BAM tires starts flopping all over.

forgot to say im looking for 40-50mph(nitro speeds) from it and would like to be able to gear it and run fine on grass(short), dirt and tarmac without overheating

also does anyone know where i can find the manual for a hyperion EOS0606i charger? just got one 2nd hand but its been sent with the wrong manual

If you haven't driven it yet, I suggest you do so before you decide you want that kind of speed out of it. While it would be fun to drive in a straight line at 40-50mph, it will not handle high speed gracefully as it has a high center of gravity and tends to traction roll quite easily. You may find yourself running after it quite often to put it back on its wheels at those speeds.

Consider Medusa MR-036-050-3300V2-3F. It should be enough for 2WD.

It's quite a bit worse than a Rustler in terms of CG and traction rolling. I've got both and my Slash is on it's lid far more often with my moderately powered BL setup.

Fair enough, I just thought they were similair in terms of C of G.

iv run quite a few packs through it and yes it does roll alot easier than the rustler but you get used to the handling after a while and can easily drive it without rolling
i deffinatly want to get brushless

im still leaning towards the mamba 5700 at the moment though, mostly because its waterproof which means i can go to the track and it doesnt matter if theres puddles or its raining

You can run the 5700 in there, but the 4600 motor is a little better suited for it IMO. It'll run in the low-mid 30mph range on 2S and if you want more speed, just drop in a 3S lipo.

would the 4600 give more torque then? being a lower Kv
and also run cooler?
