basic 4200+8 cells +stadium truck=nice
 

Got a package from Mike this week (cheers fella!)which included a basic 4200 and some GP2200s and so far i love this little motor,running it on 8 gp2200s in my MF2,it looks really nice too,great quality,i didn't realise how tiny they were either.

Built 8 cell packs last night,ran this morning,tore the middle out of the diff gear within 2 or 3 mins(may have been slipping)

Tried again at lunch time with good results:

Running for 8 mins with 21/86 gearing:
GPS says 39.2 MPH,18.97kw was clap cold (85F),motor was 130F,batts were a little warm(didn't measure)

This was the the first charge of new cells and same charge as when i tore the diff gear so i'm happy with the run time.

My thoughts are that this is a nice speed to gear to for this setup,i was wondering how high you think i might be able to gear to considering the esc is running so cool,maybe it's just understressed in this application?

I'll try gearing up and down a couple of teeth to see which way the motor temp falls,waiting for bigger pinions so i'll report back later.

Here you can see how 8 gp2200s fit great in place of 6 sub C cells in the stock battery location, just a few mm longer than a 6 cell pack.Here they're moved all the way forward but there's room for them to go forward or back so you don't lose the ability to tune the weight distribution.

Lookin good Gustav! Here is mine. Novak ss5800 6 cell epic 3000 dreadnought stick pack got me to third in 5min qualifying last race day. My pack dumped @9 min in the 10min A main DNF. Nice to run with the Nitro boys. Could have used a pitstop. Deans have been added since photo. Scorpion 2s2p@6400mah ought to take care of that soon. STock truck MOd truck are the two biggest classes at our track. 1/8 Buggies usually get a good turn out as usual.:cool:

Serum,as you can see i took your advice and got the basic 4200,i'm glad i did so thank you.

Actually it just ran 42.7 MPH on the same gearing,so i think the batts were begining to drop off the previous time (also it was their first cycle).This is within a fairly short distance too so i like the gearing like this,40ish is a nice useable speed i think for general everyday bashing,it's hard to stop a 2wd from much faster and everything runs nice and cool.

Nice setup man, really tidy. Keep thinking of loading up on some of them GP2200's, in the same space of 9 GP3300 cells I could easily fit 12 GP2200's? Now that would give me the power I like :) Do you use standard batt bars with them? How many amps can they output?

Unfortunately Lehner Basic's don't really do it for me, can't push oversize tyres too well. Brilliant motors for everything else though :) You should be able to come up to about 50mph with that setup?

a 9L on 12 cells would do great too if your car can take one.. :D

Could 12 GP2200 cells even out out the amps a 9L would require without overheating the cells?

Yeah, i thought Mike could get them. Those 2200's claim to be 100A proof, but with a light car and a 9L it's like driving a heavy maxx with 20-24 cells and a larger motor. The motor isn't too hard on the batteries, if you use the right gearing.

I got the cells from Mike. They're shorter but only slightly less diameter so battery bars should fit but you don't gain the space advantage in terms of length if you build side by side.

I'm using solderless power tubes though which is better than side by side for resistance and length of wire and therefore for interference and risk of voltage spike,i put that pack together in about 5 mins and it's the first one i've built.

$5.50 i think,here's some dimensions,quoted from another site, i didn't measure,seems about right though:

GP3700:
length 43mm,diameter 23mm,weight 64.5 g.

GP2200:
length 34mm,diameter 23mm,weight 44 g.

Thanks for the info :) I could for sure fit 12 of these in my T2 if I assembled them how you've done yours (shame I couldn't use a discharge tray with them). 12 cells with either a 12s or 8L would be nice..which motor do you guys think would work better? Its a 6lbs truck with oversize M2K tyres which drag my 6s/8 cells down quite a bit.
