My first Savage SS brushless conversion buy!
Well I thought this would be a great foundation to start my brushless conversion on.

its a great kit, much stronger than stock, i havent had a chance to run mine yet as im waiting for the mmm:diablo: but i can't wait to try the extended chassis:yipi:

with the extended chassis you would think that wheelies would be harder but with BL it comes up easier than the stock shorter chassis with the nitro engine.

Yup I hear what your saying, I figure the extended chassis can only help keep the front end down but the instant torque of BL will win out in the end. Of course, I don't have to mash to go every time or do I, ya I do, I'm gonna be breaking stuff.:lol:

Quick question about trans. set-up. I read that you have your trans locked into second so you can use the motor as a breaking system, I would like to do this too, more simple less stuff. I know how to lock the trans in gear but could I also use reverse while locking in second gear if the one-way bearing is replaced? I have a reverse module installed now but would like to ditch it if I could. Thanks for the advice, Darion |

Quick update. I recieved my conversion kit, looks nice but no instructions.:oh: If anything it will be fun just getting into the job at hand and working it out. I have made a few other buys; a 30amp power supply, feigao 8XL, Mamba Monster:diablo: and a motor heat sink.
All I have left to buy that are bigger items would be a charger, will get a Bantam e-Station 610 and a Polyquest battery or two. Of course I will need several small item to complete the deal but I'm moving in the right direction. So much for my budget build, figured if I was going to do this I should just do it right the first time around. Let me know what ya think, Darion |
yep do it once. I have heard this motto "Do it quick, Do it CHEAP, Do it TWICE."
I would rather spend more and wiat longer and have it done right. BTW the alloy bumpers are not on it anymore. Easy to bend that was just a shelf queen model. Now it has the stock plastic bumpers for bashing. |

Ok, so I found some time to work on my Savage and got the trans locked in second gear, took the reverse module out, removed the mech. brake, built the Tranny Forward brushless conversion and got the truck in mostly one piece. It is so nice getting all that extra stuff off the truck, everything is much more straight forward. :yes:
The conversion kit is nice and fairly straight forward, I used the how to as a guide from the link jhautz pointed out, thanks again. :yipi: The worst part of the build was getting my old truck parts to come appart, damn thread lock gets real hard after four years. :tongue: One brace was missing from my kit, servo plate brace, along with a couple screws so I will get ahold of them tomorrow to get that taken care of. It really doesn't matter at this point because I am waiting on my MMM esc so the truck isn't going anywhere for now. All-in-all I am very happy with the results and look forward to getting the truck up and running.:mdr: Thats all for now, Darion |
