Do you guys use thread lock on the motor screws?

Just installing my new Neu and new MMM and was wondering if you all use thread lock on the motor screws.:mdr:

I dont they hold just fine...

azjc 07.11.2008 09:07 PM

threadlock everything......

magman 07.11.2008 09:23 PM

I put thread lock on mine just in case...I had not put any in w/my 9xl.

If you torque them right they will never need it, it just makes a mess if you ask me.

Metal to metal - I always loctite. Vibration will loosen just about anything unless you damp the higher order harmonics - add weight anyone?

Oil or grease will prevent loctitie from developing strength, so I use motor spray to clean threaded part before loctiting.

random question, do the motors come with screws or not? thanks.

I don't use threadlock for motor screws.. just make it nice and snug, because pieces of the threadlock can get through the holes and build up slowly inside the motor can.. but on other chassis parts, I always use light --> medium strength threadlock..

I don't threadlock anything. I make sure to check all the screws after a run. I've only had one accident- related to a loose screw.....

DRIFT_BUGGY 07.12.2008 02:49 AM

I don't, but I do use spring washer. But I do check over all screws after every pack

I have never had a motor screw loosen EVER...pinion set screws yes lots of them even after locktighting them.

auto2 07.12.2008 06:56 PM

if you use it get the tube like gel stuff. only a dot on the threads not a flood so it gets on the screw head. i do not use it on motor screws and i check them every run. i use it on center diff /motor mount chassis side and the screws that hold the belcranks in . and ALWAYS on the pinion. sometimes the shock mounts wil loosen. nyloc nuts only work once.

I use blue loctite on every metal to metal connection unless I'm using a lockwasher on the screw or bolt.

jnev 07.13.2008 02:30 AM

I also use loctite on every metal to metal connection... except for the motor screws. Never had a motor ever come loose. Just have to torque it down pretty hard.

zeropointbug 07.13.2008 04:12 PM

Yeah, spring washer screws are very good in fact... use traxxas motor screws, they are the best for holding on to these brushless power houses.
