Foams on the road - not sticky?

So I keep trying out tires for speed runs here and there, and everyone swears by foams, they don't swell up at high speeds, supposedly stick like glue, etc.

No deal. They slide worse than rubber and actually give me slower results with my runs.

Tried various shore ratings, nothing seems to help on the street (typical stuff, parking lot style).

Is this normal of foams? Is there something else you need to do to get them to stick like they should? I've been reading up on it and some soak in soda, some rub traction compound on them, but I just never hear of people saying "oh my foams are super fast....after I soak them in soda", it's just a blanket "foams rule" statement.

I haven't been using them long, and am new to them overall, I always just used rubber and tried to belt the inside of the tires with strapping tape. I figured rubber would last longer and they honestly perform very well for me (with tape inside).

Any tricks of the trade so I stop wasting money on tires?

Thanks,

10k

If you're racing on an unprepared parking lot stick with rubber. Foams will hook up better if you have a clean surface to run on.

traction compound can only help as well. I agree foams on a dusty parking lot is driving on ice.
