New Revo
Ok so i just got a revo off of ebay. Its a complete truck, im planning on parting out everything to build a brushless truck. I currently have a MM and a 7xl and im wonderinf if that on a s setup would be sufficent. Anyone running anything similar?
7xl well get hot fast. you might have to gear it low to keep the temps low. you might want to try and get a 9xl. the 9xl, mm, 4cell is a perfect setup.
Ok so opinions here the 9xl or a Medusa motor?
Love my 9XL.
I'm a Neu man myself but on the recommendation of buddy I purchased a AVEOX 36/30/1.5 for $95 on ebay, which are almost identical- 1900kv, and 64.8mm long, it will run 4, 5 & 6s I'm told.. Hell for 95 bucks you cant go wrong..
Yea i hear that, i think i may get a MMM combo depending on the price i can get one for once there out.

280$ thats what im getting for my revo. and im going to be running it on 6 cells lol. |
Ok so i just got the revo in and im in the process of breaking it down. Planning on rebuilding the diffs. Im trying to decide on what to do for the conversion. I was thinking about putting an erevo transmission in if possible to allow easier motor mounting and placement options. Any if this will work?
I think its actually more work to fit an E-Revo tranny into it. Follow the how-to (sticky in Revo section) in order to lock the stock transmission into 2nd gear. It really isn't that hard, once you understand what you need to do. Then with either Mike's motor mount or the Tekno kit, you can mount the motor, and all electronics.
On my Revo, I have a mix of parts from Mike and Tekno... I am using Mike's motor mount, and the Tekno battery tray and ESC mount. |
If I had to do it over again, i'd still get the 9XL. It rips!
Using the 3.3 tranny and locking it into second is much simpler. I have done it both ways and would never use the e-maxx/e-revo tranny again for building.
That seemed like the thing to do but i wasnt sure. I think im going to use Mikes mount but im not sure, it depends on how much i can get from the sale of the nitro stuff. I think im going to get a new tranny off ebay as the one in there seems a little worn and its foward only so ill probaly sell it and buy a new one. Any suggestions on this?
Why buy a new one, gears can be replaced a lot cheaper.
If using motor braking/reverse you will need the forward only installed anyway. |

I have been thinking about getting a G3R chassis and going with an E maxx tranny to balance weight ( I am thinking about running 2 5s packs in series for a 10s system) so I am wondering what you didint like about the E maxx style |
The tranny set up to high and I never liked how it was positioned in the chassis.
I had the chassis milled out on a CNC mill so everything was clean. I think with a G3R you will be okay because of the drop in COG though. I just like the cleaner look and fit of using the 3.3 setup in the end. The G3R is nice but too low and pricey for me. |
