Video and 8ight project
First, I thought I'd just post a quick video of my CRT.5. Nothing broke and it worked perfectly.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u0AtPoSKhD8 But the main point of this thread (and why I put it in the buggy section) was to show my Losi 8ight buggy that is in progress. I got the roller for a great price, so I couldn't pass it up. Just a couple more things to do on the battery tray, and wheel nuts to buy, and it will be rolling. :intello: I also now have many spare parts for an 8ight (brand new front/rear diffs with diff cases, brand new a-arms and axle carriers and knuckles, brand new steering assembly, used chassis, and a couple other items), so let me know if you need any of this stuff. I have a Feigao 9xl motor for sale as well. (Thought I'd throw that in there ) I will hopefully start racing pretty soon, so I don't want to get a way overpowered system for it. I am deciding whether to run 4s or 5s on the MMM ESC. I'll probably go with the MMM system on 4s, or I can go with a lower KV motor (possibly a 1512) on 5s. I am still trying different gearing and set ups in the speed calculator though. As I have plenty of time to decide since the MMM isn't even shipping yet... And the pictures:  http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/a...n/IMG_0312.jpg http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/a...n/IMG_0313.jpg http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/a...n/IMG_0314.jpg http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/a...n/IMG_0315.jpg http://i199.photobucket.com/albums/a...n/IMG_0317.jpg Well anyway, let me know what you think. And please let me know of any set ups that work well in an 8ight as well. Whether its diff/shock set ups or brushless set ups. EDIT: I forgot to ask... does anyone know what the circle is for in the motor mount where the screws attach to motor? There is two slots where the screws go in and at the end of the slot there is a circle... anyone know what its for? |
Coming along nice. When you say MMM system, your talking about the 1515 neu/cc motor?

Oh ok, thanks pb4. Thats a pretty clever design by Mike.
DRIFT - Yes, I was referring to the 1515 CC/Neu motor. |

I will admit to being a newb, but what is the benifit of the lexan on the rear A-Arms?

Mud guards.
Looking sweeet jnev! I'm thinking of getting an 8IGHT too near the end of the summer. |
How did you mount the battery tray?
Nice setup! |
Thanks guys.
Yah, the lexan is just to keep some dirt away from the shocks. It was like a $1 or $2, so I though I might as well get them. Sylvester - I put 3 screws going from underneath the chassis into the spacer using existing holes in the chassis. Then I put 3 holes in the actual battery tray that came down through the tray and spacer. I tested earlier to make sure the hole was the right size so the screw would be tight. So in all there were 6 screws used. Let me know if you didn't understand it. I can try to explain better. I am hoping it will hold, but I won't know until I test it... The screws included were also the exact length needed. The plastic spacer is also pretty dense, so I think it will hold pretty tight to the chassis and battery tray. |
Thanks! im sure ill do the exact same once i get my tray in.
Ill put up a thread of my brushless eight soon once i get everything in! What setup are you going to run? Im gonna run a MM w/ccbec and 3 1000uF 35V caps on a neu 1512 2.5D/F. The battery of choice is a Flightpower 5000 4s. Thanks for the help. |
I am really not sure what set up I'll run. I'm still thinking about whether to run 4s or 5s. I'll probably go with the MMM ESC as it should be readily available by the time I have funds to put electronics in this. And then Flightpower 4s/5s 5350mah pack. And as for a motor, either the CC/Neu motor (2200KV) on 4s or a 1512/1.5y (1850KV) on 5s.
|
Id run 4s. You dont really need 5s in a buggy IMO. For any tracks I race at that would be WAY over powered to race with. Better have a good throttle finger lol
I still want a eight! Maybe after my .5 I will build one! Good luck! |
5s will only be overpowered if he runs a motor too fast with that setup. A 5s setup with the correct motor will run cooler and longer than a comparable 4s setup.
|
Will this 8ight be ready by the next bash? It's lookin' good so far!
