Traxxas Rustler shocks+springs help!
Howdy. For once I'm bitterly disappointed with Traxxas.
I recently started popping and snapping the shocks on my E-Rustler, so I invested in some of the Traxxas made and recommended hard anno pro big bore alu shocks for it. I get them today, assemble them, and the stock springs don't fit :grrrrrr: Traxxas don't recommend any other springs for it, and the Traxxas forums are full of fanboys saying "the stock ones fit but are little loose - nothing to worry about". BS! On mine they dont sit on the spring retainer properly, so much so that I can see the curve of the spring, and it rubs hard against the side of the shock. Not impressed at all. Does anyone know of any springs that actually fit? Apparently traxxas want you to use ill fitting, shock body rubbing and teflon coat scratch-off-ing springs that make the pro teflon coated shock upgrade utterly pointless. I want something that fits damnit! |
Ahh I like the feeling when things end up working out.
Tried my old blue CRT.5 rear springs - perfect fit and spring rate :) |
That's good to know, I used the plastic parts from the old shock to hold the springs on. I have been looking for springs that fit. So would the crt springs work front and back or just rear?
|
Not sure I havent got the fronts. I think the CRT springs could be a little short on the front, I'll have to check it out when I'm home and get back to you. the plastic parts from the plastic shocks were too loose on the alu ones for me...
|
Sure you got the right length? That's a bummer man...

Yeah its the diameter. If the traxxas spring is sitting on the spring retaining ledge on one side of the retainer, its not even touching the ledge on the othe. It's ridiculous and poor form for traxxas especially whose products are usually so refined.
After my batteries and ESC went back in the rustler, along with the alloy chassis and transmission those blue crt.5 springs, although about the same as what I was running, could be a little soft now...I might try the harder ones next order from amain. |
Big Boars? They should fit with the stock white springs.
|
Yes, they should. Pity they don't.
