feigao 9xl
does anybody know how a 9xl would perform on 12 cells in a e-revo? and what is the maximum number of cells? mine is 16. how would it perform on 16?
|
It would be awefully slow on 12 cells. 12 cells would be for a 7XL minimum (in terms of kv). The 9XL would perform better on 16 cells, should be sort of like the 7XL on 12, but with more available power and longer runtimes (because of more cells).

Hey Metalman. Just how slow are we talking about? EMAXX slow or Radio Shack slow. I'm thinking along these lines for my setup and just interested in what you think
|
It would probably go slower than a stock E-Maxx even with pretty high gearing. On 16 cells, it might go about 35mph.
|
The 9xl will pull the stock gearing. no problem. it has a higher kv than the stock titans. I have ran mine on my gmaxx with 12 cells. It would run about 30. YOu do need to step up on gearing some. I didn't have a good charge cause my batteries had set without charge. Only took 2300-2400 on 3300. I got 17 mins of run time. that was 12 cells.

Cool thats what i'm going for. Could a MGM 120/12 pull that motor? or would i be better off with a 160/16 or a 9920
|
The 9920 would work well. You could add 20 cells later on if you so wished :).
|
The 9xl will go the same speed as a 9l both on 12 cells. You just have to gear the 9xl higher to compensate for the kv loss. The higher kt of the 9xl will be able to pull the higher gearing and both the 9l and the 9xl will pull the same amount of amps. The motor that runs closer to 40000 rpm will be the most efficient. In that case, the 9l is better for 12 cells. If you want to run 20 cells later on, the 9xl would still be ok.

[quote]The motor that runs closer to 40000 rpm will be the most efficient[quote] not true. You can't compare an L with an XL, they are different motors. It depends on the setup (gearing etc) which is the most efficient. If you want to use a MGM instead of an 9920, the 16160 should be the one.
As coolhand mentioned, the 9XL would do well on 12 cells. And you have got the ability to step up to more cells. But why no 7XL on 12 cells? |
Because i was satisfied with my emaxx at stock speed. I may resurect my emaxx later, but i'm working on a Gorilla G2R Revo conversion with a twist. I'm going to use a Tmaxx transmission and a mechanical brake, like Starscream's Emaxx had, so there is no need for a lot of RPM's to get speed and with a lower kv rating the 9xl should go a long time with the lower first gear. If i am correct, great. If not let me know
Sorry for the hijack Squee, but this is the same idea i'm working on. |
