This ever happen to you?
I was running my new E Revo in a gravel pit lastnight and it kept quitting. Come to find out my Deans plugs were unhooking themselves. I am using a deans series adpater and that is where they are coming undone. Right where the y adapter goes into the lipo packs. I suppose I could electrical tape them. Just curious if this happens to anyone else. Thanks

that is very odd. how old are the plugs? You can take some needle nose pliers and bend the silver tabs to curve them more to put more pressure to hold the plugs tighter.
|
my dean connectors tend to fit very snug...
|
My deans are very tight as well... you actually have to pull pretty hard to get them apart...
|
I had that problem when I bought some lipos that used Deans knock off plugs instead of the real thing. I just replaced the plugs on the battery packs with real deans plugs from the LHS and all was good. I'll bet this is your issue.

They are real Deans plugs I put them on myself. I remember them being very tight in the beginning. However now they are not. They actually came off about 4 times when I was running in about 12 minutes of runtime. Both sides were coming out. Would not be good on a track that is for sure.

Are both battery packs coming unhooked or just one?

Get new deans I guess.

Wow, never saw that happen. I have several I have recycled from old nimh packs that are years old and are still tough to pull apart. When you soldered them, did you let the tabs get real hot and melt the plastic a bit? I did screw one up like this once (tho the melted plastic caused it to twist the other way and be too tight to get on.)

I'm going to be a tad irritated if I have to get new Deans. Just for the fact that they are new. I only have 5 cycles through these lipos............

Strange happenings for sure. Where did your deans come from and were they in true deans packaging?
|
This happened to me at the track... they just get wacked around a bunch, and they are not new connectors so they won't hold as well as before. I guess this is how they 'keep' their customers, replacements...

may be stupid to ask but are your batts secure and tugging on the plugs. Doesnt really matter how tight they are if your batts pull enough they will unhook every time.
