Medusa in a Truggy

I have an Inferno ST-R that needs a motor. I was thinking either Medusa 36-60-1500 or waiting for the CC combos (1515 2200) to come out.

Has anyone run this motor in a truggy on 5s.

If I ran the MMM/Neu I'd use E brakes and if the Medusa mech brakes to make things a little easier on the setup.

I'm leaning toward the Medusa because I can have it sooner, but I will need to get an MMM anyway.

What do you think?

Trucks diffs are 43/10 with a 52tooth spur and 5.5 tires on 5s

I'm keen on this answer as well . I could of helped you out myself as i fitted the 36-60 1600kv into my Jammin X2 conversion but fried my MM on 5s while testing it out . Never got it off the bench

I think the general consensus is that the Medusa is a bit small for truggy. 8th scale buggy is about the most you could pull with one until they come out with a larger can version.

I don't agree you should have seen how a 60-2000 4s pulled mikes e-revo round the track - He was competative in an A main until he losts a driveshaft

Mine has no trouble in my Erevo,36-60-2000,it really likes 5s.

That's good to know. I still think a truggy is going to be a bit harder on the motor than an e-revo. No transmission/slipper, and probably a tad more weight.

I suppose it's worth a shot, but probably not the ideal motor selection.

I run a 1300kv 60mm Medusa in my Losi 8T on 6s through a MM. I run the Tekno conversion with clutch and mechanical brakes. The motor is plenty to pull the truggy around, especially if you are racing it.

That's good to hear. I've been advised several times against the 60mm medusa for a 1/8th truggy. You have no problems with heat ? It's really amazing what those little MM controllers will do. They hang with some of the "best" ESC's out there. I smoked a couple quark 125's and an MGM160 and the MM just kept right on.

That's all the convincing I need. What speed are you geared for. I was planning 35-40mph.

36-60-1500 geared 20/52 on 5s. Comes out as 39mph. I'll also be running mech brakes

I'm geared for around 40mph. I run a 14t clutch bell and the stock spur. My motor has hit 170 on a hot day but I usually pull it off around 140. ESC is fine, I only run 1 fan on top, no other mods. If you watch this video I'm the one running the old chevy truck body (don't let my qualifying position deter you, this was my first time in expert). At around the 1:40 mark, Tekno and I are close, he's running a 1515 3D geared with a 13t bell. As you can see, performance is pretty close. He's got more torque, but that's about it. I don't even need it. At the start I easily go through the table top rhythm section while the nitro's case it. The back straight is around 180-200ft.

Aim for 38-40 mph for the track , plenty of usable speed .Your gearing seems spot on.
I'm also happy to hear the reports of the Medusa in truggies.

Well I ordered a 036-060-1500 from Medusa.
Will post how it works when it's in,still need am MMM so that'll be the hold up.
Any word when Mike will be getting stock on MMM?
