Aussie CRT X2
Hey guys .
Following on from conversations and PMs with some of you on RCTech i finally joined here . My X2 is finished , waiting on the body to be painted and another esc. Fried the MM when testing the X2 on the bench  Have back ordered a couple of MMM V2 ( one will go in my RC8 conversion ) and will be trying one of Arturs Modded R1Pros out .I can always sell the second MMM if not needed . Following set up PQ 5S 4350mah Medusa 36-60 1600kv motor with 14 t - 15 t pinion ( 38 - 40 mph ) RCM battery tray TeknoRC universal motor mount MMM V2 or modded R1 Pro Everything went smoothly in the build and have to say the driveline is the smoothest i have ever built , very nice  Only mod i had to make was for the Tekno mount .The mount itself is a very niece pice of work , cradles the Medusa like a glove and works as a heat sink . I had to make 4 countersunk slots in the chassis for the mount so i could adjust gear mesh . Also since the mount is seperate from the diff any flex in the centre of the chassis would disturb the mesh and could destroy the pinion / spur . I came up with the idea of using Traxxas steel pushrods ( plenty of guys on RCTech gave me some good ideas on bracing the diff ) and attached two pushrods to the top of the diff and rear chassis brace . This should work well until Mike comes out with an X2 specific mount so i wont need the bracing . |

Last pics for now .
On another note , after a few emails with Mike he was sure a couple of guys are already using the CR mount in the X2 so i ordered one to try out. |
Very very nice. I envy u. Me all talk but no action . The rear brace is plastic isn't it ? Maybe good idea to upgrade to an Al one.
Regards, Joe Ling |
Nice X2! I really like the X2. I have an X1 that's been upgraded. Let me know how that medusa runs. I was thinking of a 60mm 1300kv one on 6s lipo. I'm running a Monster max.
Bye:smile: |
Will do cemetery gates once i get a esc to run .If you already have a MMM that is working the 1300kv Medusa sounds perfect for 6S , try it out .
You will probably have it running before i do. Joe i'm waiting to see if i can fit the CR mount so i can take the bracing away .If it won't fit i will upgrade to the alloy F/R chassis braces . |

Bye:mdr: |
Received and R1 Pro so soldered a 35v cap to it along with an external bec hooked it all up and :yipi::mdr:
Had the truggy running for 5 mins just to test out the R1 since it will be living in the buggy and i didn't want to push it too much in the truggy . Ran great on 5s and only got two temp leds lit up , very smooth esc , should work great in the lighter buggy .Waiting on a hotwire so i can set the lvc for 5s . Tempted to take the X2 to the track for a day of running with the R1 on the weekend ( not having run the X2 on a track is killing me ) but i'm a little scared for the little esc . I know you guys have had great success with it in the buggies but don't know of anyone with it in a heavy truggy. I'll just be patient with the X2 and wait for the MMM to arrive , shouldn't be too much longer . |
How did u mount the Tekno motor mount ffactory? I have an x1 i would like to have one of those on it.

I just measured up drilled two holes ( make sure they are the right size for the screws ) were each slot starts and ends and then completed the slot with a dremel milling bit  Of course then i used a countersink bit . Dont forget though if using this mount you have to brace you centre diff somehow like i did . |

Got a little present from Mike today :yipi:
Needless to say i can now confirm for you guys that the CR buggy mount fits the X2 :mdr: Just need to take the dremmel and put a notch in it were it sits on the center chassis brace for clearance . You can see it in the pic . Also Mikes mount is about 1mm taller than the stock diff mount so you just have to shim the top of the stock mount so the top diff plate sits square . Bearing carrier is spot on . Now i have gotten rid of the centre diff braces i had to use on the Tekno mount, a lot cleaner looking:wink: Also received my custom one piece battery trays , perfect . They clear the diff nicely , sit on the mudguard spot on and best of all i can now use my Zippy packs along with the enerland cells . After speaking to Jeff i also got the front wall of the tray machined thicker for those hard lawn dart accidents  |
Looks great! Keep us updated on how it runs. Does the spur gear go wider than the motor mount? Thats what it looks like in the picture... I just noticed it because usually his motor mounts are just a touch wider than the spur gear, so that the battery tray can be as close as possible and it looks like you have quite a bit of extra room to push the battery a little closer toward the center.

Looks like the spur is borderline with the end of mount . That pic does make the tray look like it's got a mile between it and the spur , just measured it has 3mm clearance. I could move it over a touch more , within 1mm of the spur but don't want to in case of an accident , wouldn't want that spur anywere near the lipo . How much clearance do you have between tray and spur ? |
On my 8ight, I'd say there is about 1/2 to 3/4 of a millimeter clearance between the tray and motor mount. But the motor mount goes about 2 to 3 mm past the spur gear. So I think thats a fairly safe distance. Yah, looking back at the picture, it definitely makes it look more than 3mm.
|
Sweet i'll keep it at that distance then .
Understand what you mean though , if the mount came past the spur it would act like a guard  |
