New E-Revo setup, Neu 1515 1Y, MM, lipos temps
I just got done setting up my new stock e-revo to brushess (it's the traxxas e-revo, not a converted one), im just wondering if these temps are within normal range *as in safe to run more after 15 min* or should I be concerned? especially motor temp, this is after 15 min of continuous on-road and occasional off-road bashing.
Motor: <=145F MM Esc w/Mod1 and fan: <=140F 4s Lipos: <=115F Gearing: 22/68 note that <= means max it ever get up to, then it cool down as i stop and check temp, im not sure running longer will make things any hotter. Any comments or suggestions to make things better/cooler are welcome. |
Temps look pretty good. If that is as high as they get after a full run then you should be fine. What lipos are you using, as the temps look a bit high for them. Maybe dropping a few teeth on the pinion would cool them down some? Motor and esc look good.

i had that setup in my revo geared 26/58 and i hit about 140 mm/137 1515 1y, lipos were cold, your temps look fine

Great, im glad to hear that, im using 20c (30c burst) 4300mah zippy from HobbyCity, did I mention ambient temp is about 95-100? was 105 peak today but i ran toward evening. I got a 20t pinion, i will try that tomorrow and see if it cool the lipos down, but it might be just the heat of Texas, gonna be 107 tommorrow, I dont plan to run at peak though.

I also got the 1515 1.5D, but i've heard/read it heat up the MM and frying it, isn't that true? I might end up selling it and keep the 1Y as it seems like a good and fast enough setup for me.

I wouldn't say there is a big chance of the MM frying with the 1515/1.5d, but that motor sure does pull a lot of amps from the battery. So I think that its the batteries that would be getting worked the most. As long as the ESC can handle the current, which the MM should be able to handle, it should be fine. The 1515/1y will give you better temps all around though so I'd stick with the 1y and sell the 1.5d if you don't need it.

thats what I'd do or save it for another brushless conversion as I have another backup MM, I have an old HPI intro MT that I plan to convert soon, not sure exactly how, not many people have done it I dont think. any thought/suggestion on that? I did google search which doesn't help much with the build, only vids
