heat transferring goo?
is there some sort of compound i can put between my feigao and the rcm heat sink to better transfer the heat to the heat sink? there seems to be a slight space between the two (one or the other is not perfectly round)....just thinking this would help the heat sink be more efficient:yes:

You could try some arctic silver.
thermal paste found at computerstores or radio shack
Artic Silver 5 is the best stuff to get. Can buy it at tigerdirect.com
I got mine nice and buttered up with the arctic silver thermal grease and honestly I cant tell a differance in temps and the little barbie doll size syringe was like 8 bucks.
huh, maybe ill just forget about it then...should the heat sink be a lot cooler than the motor...like the motor will be 170 and the sink 105..just seems to me that the heatsink should be closer to the temp of the motor
Honestly thermal paste isn't going to much here, im a computer expert and it really dosen't make difference between brands or types unless your dealing with over 150-180f and then you really need an efficient heat sink. Personally i wouldn't use it because of the mess.

This stuff works great for all of my applications. Good price, too. So far I've used it on my laptop's CPU and GPU, and also my MGM and Sentilon controllers. I've never used a heatsink on a motor but I know the gap that you are talking about, and it would bug me too. The motor is guaranteed to be round, so it's the heatsink clamp that is out of shape. I would try (gently) to reshape it. Thermal paste may not help unless you can eliminate most of that gap.

Yea stuff like that is perfect if you want to test/use something

I had the same problem with my heatsink. I put on a decent amount of grease but even when I attached the heatsink to the motor again, I noticed it wasn't making good contact. You could try a couple beefy zipties around the motor to clamp the clamp (ha!) to the motor.
We include a tube of heat transfer paste with our conversion kits and offer it as an accessory.
I got something I'm gonna ziptie around motor/heatsink clamp...it's a 40mm 12 volt cooling fan...I know I know ugly as hell but whatayagonna do? This stupid things wanting to hit 200deg on me!
let me know if the fan makes a difference, if it does ill definitely be getting one, im in the 200 range also...as in i de-magged a motor the other day...although part of the problem was gearing and timing i think...but a fan would still be nice, whered you get your?
i get mine from radioshack, you can pick them up at any electronics store really, did you ever get the 9xl can shipped out?
RadioShack parts are very pricey - you pay for the convenience of being local. If you know you're gonna get a few fans, try allelectronics.com.
