Output Conn Error??
I got a practically new 3S 3300mah ProTek lipo for my other tx - I'm already using one in my 3pk. I hooked it up to my 0610i charger last night following latest advice from Hyp - main power leads 1st, then balance connector. Soon as it gets to my input charging rate, I get beeping and a msg that says "out connect error" or something like that and charging stops. I can charge it without the balancer connected - no probs, I can balance it without charging - no probs.
When I try to do them together, I get the error. Doesn't happpen with the other one of these I have. Anybody got idea what's going on? |
sounds like your balancing lead has some loose connections somewhere. Might be bad soldering joints at the battery tabs.

Has the last user swapped around the pins on the balancing plug?

Battery is new, looks new, was bought out of orig pkg, but not molested in anyway that I can tell. I think I'll be calling the seller and see if they've had any probs like this.
It charges normally. It balances normally. It just won't do both at once on my 0610i the way all my other lipos will. |
OK, after a lot of playing with it, I figured this out. The last time I charged this 3300 batt my 0610i was still running v1.5 firmware. When I tried charging my orig 3300 batt tonight using v1.6 - it wouldn't charge/balance either when it had before. I charged a FP 1600 3S with no prob and a couple of 2S lipos of diff capacity and balance tap types. Ok so what's the diff here? The tx batts use a male servo end - I was using my Ice charger's adapter for this and its 18" long and servo gauge - thin stuff, prob 18 or smaller - these are tx batts and only need charging at 1amps.
I cut a short piece of servo lead and used alligator clamp 14 ga leads and it worked like a champ - charge and balance at same time. I noticed the IR indiacted by charger dropped from 379 to 137mohmm. I suspect v1.6 senses this and limits the voltage drop for the main output leads. v1.5 didn't do this since it had let me charge my 1st 3S 3300. Bottom line - charges and balances again like its supposed to. Just had to understand what was going on to get it there. |
The 1.6 software definitley makes it difficult to charge unless the battteries and wires are exactly what it is looking for. IMHO, its not as friendly to our well worn batteries.

Prob a safety driven issue which is prob not a bad thing. It's amazing to have a charger that looks out for itself. Just takes some getting used too - if 0610i Net/Duo had a well documented manual that mentioned this kind of stuff it wouldn't make it as bad.
My only clue was the new firmware and the error - last pg on 'manual' said the msg meant battery not connected. So I started to suspect the output leads I was using. |
