The weight debate
1 Attachment(s)
I thought I would post this information here on the forum. I’ve notice that there are many misconceptions about weight. It’s a bit frustrating to read inaccurate information, usually posted by people that don’t even own our parts. So if you guys notice any posts on the net inquiring about chassis weight, please point them this way. Also, if any of you own competitors kits please add the details here.
In comparing our G2 chassis to the stock parts we included the following components: Stock weight includes the chassis, 2 braces and 2 battery hold-downs. G2 weight includes the servo plate, the rear plate, the lower plate, 2 braces, 2 battery straps and the bell crank spacers (since these are built into the stock chassis we had to include them) Stock = 230 grams (8.11 oz) G2 Aluminum = 230 grams (8.11 oz) G2 Carbon Fiber = 190 grams (6.70 oz) |
Thanks for the illustrated clarification George. I would imagine that clears up any confusion. Even the scale has "bling"!

That is some great info.
Any weights on the G3 Race Suspenion? |
Looks like one complicated scale..
You can email, fax and even chat with your friends on it? Those 40 gramms made me descide to buy the the CF one.. I wanted to buy the aluminum, but this is a nice one! Why don't you put these pics on your site to? |
Scale is a little complicated - but I figured how to turn it on :C:
Seriously though, it has been a good investment in terms of designing parts and keeping weight in check. Serum – good idea! I will but something together for my site – I’ll include more of the components (now if I could just find those old stockers ):W: |
i noticed that the weights of each chassis didn't include the screws, washers, basic hardware (or at least i didn't see them). The G2 has alot more screws and washers than the stock chassis, but maybe not.
I also noticed that i didn't see any battery pad foams on the scale? Does the stock weight include the steel battery hold down support thingys? |
I just weighed the basic parts to keep it simple. Screws are not included in these measurments. The G2 only has 12 more M3x8 screws than the stock chassis, but unlike the stock you can run with 4 less M3x20 on the trani since they don't act in holding the chassis together (If I do the math right the G2 is just slightly over on screw weight). Also the nut and screw used to hold the velcro down is about equal to the weight of the stock pin and screw on the plastic bar. Basically a wash.
The foam pad is optional (but recommended) - so it is not included (a single pad wont even register on my scale - if a blow on it I can get it to 1 gram :D ) But really you should consider this - the G2 is a 16 cell chassis and the stock is a 12 - Imagine what the stock chassis would weigh if it had 2 more cell slots on each side - should I say more ;) |
Not to mention the G2 is way stronger, has a much lower cg, handles way better and just looks cool!
|
i heard that!
|
ic, i own the CF gorilla and i love it, i even bash with it and it holds up well.
|
awesome man.... this is a good thread.. i like to see these facts all though a truck for bashing does not matter if it is like1 gram heavier:L:
|
great info, really helpful George , thanks
|
Does any one else have any ideas on the weight of other chassis?
|
Thank you George, great info!
