Brushless 1/8th Buggy
 

Hello,

I am new to BL but not 1/8th Buggy's,

I would love make a BL Buggy,

So need Reccomendations really,

Car is either going to be a Hong Nor X1CR or a Xray XB808,

No need for Silly Speeds, 40MPH Give or Take will be More then Fine,

Runtime Longer then 20Mins, 5Mins Heats are Fine but Need longer then 20Mins for Finals, (If i make the A Anyway)

I have been told the MMM ESC is going to be Best,

Also look at Neu Motors,

But need a Motor + Gearing for that,

Also Lipo Battery and Charger+Balencer,

Just need a List of Everything needed to get from nitro to BL with the Guidlines above,

Rather Spend More Money and have it be Bang on and Realible then less and it keep Breaking,

So any help Please,

From what I have read the 808 seems to be the better bet. It's a super light buggy, and is also very durable. From the nitro guys I have heard the X1CR tends to wear out fast, and that buggy is just plain old.

For a motor for the buggy, the Neu 1512 2.5D 2000kv is a VERY popular choice. I personally am using the finned version, but would prefer the smooth version to give me better gearing options and to reduce weight.

The MMM is an excellent choice - my buggy is running the V1 without any issues.

To get 20mins. you might need a 4s 5000mah or higher capacity battery. I can't speak for the 808 from my own experience, but you should be able to make 20mins with that capacity geared for 40mph especially since the buggy is so light. Even if you went with higher capacity than 5000mah, it shouldn't be an issue as it would push the buggy to a weight that's still less than the average electric buggy.

There are lots of chargers out there... For up to 4s Lipo I like the Duratrax ICE. The Hyperion 606i charger and Hyperion LBA10 balancer would be a nice combo because they can interface with each other.

Another option which i am running and i know a few on this forum are doing is running a motor around the 1600kv - 1800kv on 5s lipo .

Even more efficient than running 4s and runs cooler and you get longer run time . 5S 5000 mah battery and you will get 20 mins for sure running a buggy around 40mph on a track .

Also you might also want to consider the Tekin R1 Pro esc , with a 35v capacitor added it runs 5s no problem , it is super smooth has great brakes and even though it costs more then the MMM it is tiny compared to the MMM :wink:

Motor - 1512 series either 2.5D or 1Y
ESC - Hands down MMM
Battery - any Flightpower, Thunder Power, Neu Energy, Polyquest with a 5000mah and at least 20c ratings.

Charger- Hyperion 606iNET because the balancer is built in.

this charger will only do 50w output and it wont even charger a 4s 5000 at a full 5 amps, i found this out when it would only charge my 5s 5000 is 2.6 amps, it only chargers my 3s 5000 at 4.6 amps and a 4s 5000 should be right in the middle at 3.5-3.6 amps, this make for pretty long recharge times.

id look at the bigger one that will do 10amps and 180w, although it will need a powersupply.

ummmm no it is the 250w i have one and it says right on it 250w.


edit - sorry i see what is wrong i typed 606i in the last post and meant to type 610iNet dont know wht i was thinking. But yes the 610iNET is 250w and has the balancer built in.

the 606i is only 50w and dont get that one.

got the same charger highly recommended. also grab the firmware updating stuff (usb adaptor and wire adaptor) well worth the $20 odd dollars spent imo.


u could go with the 2d on 4s? similar performance comparable to the 2.5d on 5s im loving mine :)
