OK, I get an e-mail that the 9920's are in and I jump on the site and order a 9920 and an 8s cause I'm so pumped I can finally get one.
This is my first non-Novak BL setup. I totally forgot to get the heatsink, and now after reading some posts I saw that a UBEC is needed if running with less than 8 cells.
I plan on trying this set up in my stampede and only have 6 and 7 cell packs. Is there any thing else I need? How about the BK electronics programming cable? Is this a necessity as well?

Not sure about the UBEC. I didn't use one with my MGM120A/8S combo. I think a UBEC is recommended but not necessary.
As fas as the cable is concerned, you don't need it either. You can program the ESC with the TX.

The 9920 won't work very well with a UBEC and that few of cells.

The UBEC is designed to work with high cell counts (12+) you need a reciever pack, like nitro's use

OK thanks, I just noticed the UBEC had an input voltage of 40 I guess thats a few more than 6 or 7 cells

At what cell count is it viable to use the internal BEC of the 9920?

Is the RX pack a necessity or can I run the 9920 with this few cells without any issues? Thanks again!

The minimum input voltage of the Koolflights UBEC is 6.5V. It says in the manual the regulator will go into bypass mode below 6.5V, which is not a bad thing at all.

If you want to use a warrior 9920 on less than 8 cells, you should get an UBEC or a receiver pack.

If you want the lower weight, get the UBEC.
If you want more programming than what the TX programming can give, then get the programming cable.

OK, so at what cell count can I eliminate the UBEC? Or should I always use one?

What problems would I have if I ran the 9920 without the UBEC? No response from servo's?

The BEC in the warrioresc's were notoriousfor burning out and shorting the controller. I have heard they have been improved but not for sureif the problem exists. I'd go with Serum's recomendations

Yeah, i thought that with the new batch of the 9920's the low voltage problems with the BECs was gone.. i thought it should suit your needs at 6-8 cells now..

Got this info from Mike. Perhaps he can confirm this.

The BK controllers have been updated a little to more effectively operate on the lower cell counts. The acceleration curve has been adjusted, as well as the LVC for the BEC, so they should work pretty well now with low cell counts. I have not been able to verify this, though, as the controllers came and went in a couple days(none for me!). More are on the way, though. The programming cable is not necessary with the warriors, but it does alllow a few tuning options. It is a good item to use with the micro controllers, as there are a few more options/parameters that can be set.

would the programming cable allow me to adjust the throttle curve? as it is its horrible and very touchy.

Yes, the BK controllers should be back in stock VERY soon. And yes, the throttle curve is a possible adjustment with the programming cable. The stock setting is low(almost instant response). I usually change the throttle curve to .5 from the stock setting. It tames down the abrupt startup.

Hey MIke, how do you reprogram the Bk controller? Do I need a programing cable? Sorry for the thread hi-jacking.
