4s in a TC3

I'm looking for a good motor to run in a tc3 on 4s. Anybody here run a tc3 on 4s? what gearing works for you? Right now my tc3 has a mm w/7700 on 2s. Its alomst fast enough now  Any outrunner suggestions?

i ran my tc3 on 4s 2 weeks ago. used a e savage esc and a silver can motor. and boy it was pretty fast with a 28t on it :P

didnt get too hot either... but HUGE arcing from the brushes :)

good luck, with any luck you dont ruin your drive shafts like i did. getting a custom fibre one made for $40 from the states as we speak... the alloy ones just warp at full speed (reedy 3 star 4300kv on 4s) and got 1 speed pass... went to rev it to see if it was still good and it buckeled... then i took the shaft out put 2s in it and plugged it into the mamba max... and it went poof?? wtf?? o well, off for repairs... just really weird.

I've got a 37-48 outrunner that's been ran 2 times. It's about 1000-1100kv, and would be a good 4 or 5s motor. let me know if interested.

I ran my TC3T with 4S lipos using the HV4.5 Novak motor. Lots of fun trying to keep it going straight with pizza cutters like tire action .

i think thats a little overkill on the motor:lol: to much extra weight

I use a mamba 4600 system on 4s in my TC3. I run 35mm foam tires, an IRS driveshaft and rear spool, and a proline lola gas body w/ a lexan splitter/ undertray/ diffuser.

We run the TC4 on 4S at over 100 with a MM5700 setup. The car WILL handle it!!

tc3_racer_001 08.13.2008 07:32 PM

thats what i love about tc3's. as long as you can steer it, it can handle it...

ive got a shaft coming which should be here next week, i will post a picture of it when i get it. cost $42us shipped international.

will the 5700 handle 4s reliably, or will it grenade? thanks

The stock plastic diff outdrives and stock aluminum driveshaft cant handle much, but those are easy fixes.

Neither, the magnet wont seperate, but itll run too hot for the magnet to hold its strength for long. Its doable for short runs.

The stock center drive shaft will work with no problem.

Too hot in what sense?? When you set up a car for 100mph speeds, you are not going to have a car that will play for 10 minutes straight! We get about 10-15 passes of about 600 feet with the setup before it hits about 170-180 on the motor and 150-170 on the ESC, We then let it cool down for about 30 minutes before running them again. This setup also consists of no extra cooling added!!

Ive killed 2 stock center driveshafts w/ my 4s tc3. They flex in teh middle then centrifugal force flings them out, shattering receiver cases on the way.

I tried a 5700 on 4s with similar results to what you described. If thats what you call reliable, then sure its reliable. IMO if it cant survive a full battery it isnt reliable. My 4600 can run for a whole battery while geared for over 100 without heat issues. Ive only managed to do that a couple times because crashes at those speeds are pretty spectacular (and expensive). Thats with no fans or extra heatsinks, I guess the airflow is pretty good at those speeds.

those shafts are the only weak bit.. i wonder if you could convert it to pulley drive?

lutach 08.16.2008 02:24 AM

I have the carbon fiber drive shaft in my TC3s and they are great. I can still beat the crap out of the new TC in the market.
