Phoenix HV 110
I know I'm new at this game but why arnt more people using this controller?....it handles 36 nihm cells isnt that about 11s lipo?
whats the catch?..there not that expensive compared to BK and MGM |
its an aircraft controller it has no reverse or brakes but it does work well otherwise I have one for my current project and its good for up to 50v and 12s lipo...it does have a soft start feature if you dont race and are a basher it will be ok it helps with wear on your drivetrain

From my experience the HV-110 in trucks is awesome, when using mechanical brakes. It's powering my 10s1p A123, ~14lb. extended Savage with no problems. |

I think I remember some info you posted about using the HV-110's brakes, but thus far have failed to locate it. Would you mind pointing me in the right direction?
|
Wondering alound here... One of my futaba remotes had an abs brake function. Basically it set the reverse/brake (minus throttle) to pulse the signal. It was funny, because if the esc was set to reverse it would pulse the signal and the car would speed up and down while in reverse.
Since the hv110 does not have proportinal brakes, maybe something like that abs function would work? The pulsing would slow it up without locking the wheels and causing flips, etc... |

Once the HV-110 was setup with the transmitter, the brakes are on. You can fine tune what % brake and if they are a soft or hard brake with the Castle Software. The pistix makes the HV-110 work very well. |
So these aren't proportional brakes then, like we are used to with typical car ESCs. Sounds like they are just neutral brakes (prop brake), which IMO, isn't useful for racing or bashing off road.
|
They are what we car guys call drag brakes. Brakes kick in as soon as you start returning throttle to neutral. Just takes some getting used to.
I just finished putting my HV-110 (with PiStix adapter) and 8S lipos in a 1.8 truggy with a 9XL and my settings are as follows: http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...icsettings.jpg I started at about 40% and that was some seriously hard braking so I went all the way down to 20% and kept brake ramping at super slow. Some more photos of my setup: http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...R/P1000896.jpg http://i256.photobucket.com/albums/h...R/P1000895.jpg Don't fear the HV-110. |
Nice truck Sunny! So you are saying it just operates as a drag and lowering the throttle down to neutral at varying rates affects your braking? I hope I am wording what I am meaning correctly with this.
|
Thanks man! You got it. You can also adjust the brake strength and brake ramp via software to your liking.
I found that jumping with the HV-110 is pretty hard with the drag brakes, but I am sure it can be done. I don't care much for that at the moment. |
8S with a 9XL!!!! Wow I just ran a 9XL on my revo on 6s A123 (geared for low 40s) and it was getting toasty - close to 150...
What temps are you getting on 8s? |
I was just driving around the parking lot for about 10 minutes in 90's ambient temps and it read in the 140's at the end. I have a 6-cell NiMH RX pack that makes the fans move some serious air. I imagine, things will be manageable, especially when it gets cooler over here.
Unlike BrianG (I think :intello:) I like fans. A lot. :mdr: |
That's because BrianG doesn't live in a flame pit like we do. The temps are a little more docile to the RC's in Iowa I would bet. :rules:
I actually connected a fan to my body to push airflow through. Works better than I expected. |
