Hey,I'm currently doing an ST-rr. The Kyosho motor mount Mike(Rc-Monster) sells is the one you need http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...rcmkyoshomount

You'll also need a battery tray http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...MFPbatterytray
order size according to the battery you choose.

For batteries Li-po is the way too go. I use PolyQuest 5s http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...=PQXP5s500025c
but there are alot of less expensive batts out there. Try a search on Zippy or True RC

Motor wise can run from $255 for a Neu 1515(best) too $70 for a Feigao (entry level).

Esc you can go the tried and tested Mamba Max(MM) http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail..._MM_ESC&cat=21
Great for 4s Li-po also somewhat successful on 5s. With this one you will also need a UBEC of some kind like this one http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...stlebec&cat=21

Or the better choice the Mamba Monster Max (MMM) http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...steresc&cat=21

There are also some nice looking Esc/Motor combos coming from CastleCreations http://www.castlecreations.com/produ...a_monster.html
supposed too see these end of the month, but who knows for sure.

Also you'll need some pinions http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...1pinion&cat=40
size dependent on choice of setup.
The plastic Kyosho Spur http://www.rc-monster.com/proddetail...YOIF148&cat=40
is also a good idea too reduce pinion wear but not necessary.

A good place to check out to configure your setup and play with some numbers
http://www.scriptasylum.com/rc_speed/_top_speed.html
Your diff ratio=4.3
spur =50
or if plastic =46

wow thanks for the info are you using the controller brakes or the mech. brakes that are on the car.

gimpygolden 08.13.2008 11:46 AM

On my ST-rr I am using the mech brakes because I am only using a Medusa 30-60-1600 motor which may be small for a truggy and I don't want thing to heat up too much.
All my other conversions are motor breaks though.
