How do I attach my novak fan to my mm?
Please don't tell me velcro. ;)
I know it came with screws but I can't find them for the life of me. Does anyone have a link? |
i just used screws which were just slightly too big (without the thread they would fit) into the top of the heatsink. they tap themselves strongly, 1 screw was enough for me for a 40mm fan but 2 would be perfect, hope this helps :)
also adding small washers raises the fan off the heatsink and can help with cooling a bit (more airflow) btw, fan blows ONTO the heatsink. :) |
Use spacres that are about 1/4 to 3/8". M3 thread machine screws that are a few mm longer that the depth of the fan mount holes work fine. They will cut their own thread into the heatsink al...

Here's a install I did today. Excuse the quality- cellphone picture.

I just screwed it into the vanes:

I just used 3mm screws with washers between the MM and the fan. I cannot believe how much of a difference this made. I know people disagree with using fans, but the new MMM uses them so what the hell.
Realistically, how much battery power will this fan use? How about 2 fans? |

If you need the proper screws, email CS and they an mail you some. We're happy when folks buy our replacement parts and service items for other controllers..... We are offering a new transcap module for 5s-6s lipo escs. |
Not really fair though as a 2wd 1/10th controller designed for 3s is being used happily on 5s on 4wd 1/8 truggies with only a bec, fan and maybe an extra cap... :)
Nice though: 4-6s 35v 1800uf TransCap - 17.59 http://www.shopatron.com/product/part_number=5685/135.0 http://www.shopatron.com/img/product...1029741315.jpg Not in stock until Sept it looks like... |

We recommend adding a transcap module to any (non-Novak) controller that requires power caps after carefully removing the burnt-out, built-in caps from the esc. It's generally much easier for users to replace the external caps than the ones soldered to the PCB. This way they don't have to return the item for service. The 4s-6s module can be added on any controller, even those using fewer lipos. |
