Media cards, being flash based, are pretty immune to magnetic fields unless you decide to swipe a magnet repeatedly across it. It's that darn magnetic media you gotta watch out for!

Wife works in research - runs a NMR machine in an analytic chemisty dept. The field in the room where mag is kept will instantly demag just about anything.Shes has demagged just about everything you can imagine at one time or another by forgetting and not leaving it in the outer office. 3.5" floppies (yrs ago), flash drives, security badges, credit cards, drivers licenses, and etc.

Her desk is outside the magnet area and she has a 10" gag paperclip taped on the desk facing away from the magnet that is pulled up to about 45-50 degrees and suspended by the mag field that's 10' away or so. Its a very expensive piece of machinery.

that doesnt sound to healthy to be around any for extended periods of time.....

I was worried about it initially too, but she is more at risk from the chemicals they use as solvents to dissolve the samples for testing than from the mag field. The'y never said anything about even being pregnant and working in that field. One of her friends worked there through both her pregnancies.

I don't think there's ever been any documented health hazards associated with one. The company is very (almost to a fault) safety conscious so i'm pretty sure there's no adverse health impact. These type NMRs have been around, mostly in colleges for 20-30yrs.

Its just a really, really strong mag field.
