Cooling holes in MM case?

I have heard of people doing this and that it helps cool the ESC greatly. Any pictures or advice on where exactly the holes are drilled, how deep, and what size drill bit? Would be much appreciated. I thermal my MM on a regular basis running a Tekno 1.5 and 4s. I do already have a fan mounted on it too. Thanks in advance.

you drill through the case, all the way around,
are you running a 1515 or 1512. i think gearing my be the problem

Your only suppose to drill 4 holes otherwise dust and other junk can get in to easily. 2 holes on each of the shorter sides. Then for added cooling you can run a fan on the side blowing threw the holes. Make sure you run a screen over the fan and the other 2 holes to make sure that the dust that will get into the MM is at a minimal. Happywing here on rcm uses this mod alot on his MM's.

Drilling holes in the case should provide minimal cooling for the FETs since they are attached to a heatsink. If anything, those holes would be better for the BEC since that circuit is in the second PCB where the USB circuit is.

Okay with mixed opinions on this I will just deal with running slower and thermalling it at times. I am saving for a MGM but that will not be until next season.

i drill like 1/8 holes in the case, as many as i can fit, stuff really doesnt get in, unless you run in mud lol

Yea brian's right the holes those holes arent needed just cut a hole in your windshield and let the air blow in.

I am leaning more toward the gearing too, but look into capacitor mod too. The MM is not designed for hard running on 4s. I know how you feel w/ drilling holes in $135 electronics, I did mine w/ my eyes closed and teeth clenched. but it will be ok.

Don't worry about dirt, if your savey enough to take it apart to drill holes you can take it apart to clean it...ever see the inside of a PC? I'd worry more about water!! Holes or not don't make much of a diff then anyway. Search some of the forums for Cap mods... GriffinRU on this forum does a great one.
