Best brushless for 10.5lb. E-Maxx

Well I just finished puting together my second maxx from all of the extra e-maxx parts I had. I was driving it around yesterday and just couldnt get excited about it. Maybe its because I'm used to the power of my other maxx with the dual 9Ls (gee, you think?)
So I'm thinking a brushless (single) system is in order. I'm just not sure what to put in it.

I lightened this one up a bit and it weighs in at 10.5lbs RTR with 14 cells. I don't race, mainly just drive in front of my house and the occasional bash session every once and a while.

I thought about just going basic and getting the HV Maxx setup but I think I may want something a little bit faster than that. And No, I am not going to use one of my 2 9Ls either. :D

Any suggestions?

Thanks.
John

EDIT: Preferably a Feigao because of price.

How about a 7XL/9920? That seems to be a pretty popular setup around here...

Thanks MetalMan.
How does this setup differ from my 9L/9918 setup?

get a 9l c540!! lol!! This must cost alot for a 2nd e-maxx. How aboutu sell me one of them brushless system or just the esc?

MetalMan 10.28.2005 04:10 PM

The 7Xl is more powerful, but the 9L has about 400kv higher. Many say that the 7XL can be geared to match the speed of the 9L, and still have more torque (on the same number of cells). But the 7XL will run even better on 16 cells!

nbcaznmaster 10.28.2005 04:17 PM

more cells, more weight!

What are you looking for john? Long run times good power or a combo of both. I don't think you would be happy with the hv maxx. What kind of speed you trying to get as well? The 7xl is a decent system. 14 cells it would move your emaxx around pretty good.

LOL!:L: Wait, didn't we allready have this conversation?

I think I will be leaning more towards more power coolhand. I usually break something before my batts run out anyway. As long as it does at least 40mph, i'll be happy with that. I still plan on going LiPo with both trucks in the future.

So to put it in terms that I can understand, the 7XL has more horsepower and the 9L has more torque?

coolhandcountry 10.28.2005 11:46 PM

accually the 7xl has more torque as well. How many lipo cells you going to run. run a 36 95 with a 9xl would really rock especially on a 6-8s.

Johnny my gmaxx weighs 10.5, i use a Lehner 3100xl; on only 12 cells. I can run down some truggy's with it its a awsome motor you might want to check it out:D .

squeeforever 10.29.2005 10:05 AM

yup. i got the same motor. it will far exceed you speed expectations. it leaves my nitro revo in the dust!

JOHNNYMAXXIMA 10.29.2005 01:49 PM

The 3100, is it this one you are talking about?
So for me running 14cells would I run this one?

squeeforever 10.29.2005 02:25 PM

yes. the 3100xl would run hot on 14 cells so i would step down to the 2800xl

JOHNNYMAXXIMA 10.29.2005 03:58 PM

So now I guess my question would be, is the XL2800 worth the extra $60 over the 7xl? Am I going to notice a big difference in speed?
Thanks

squeeforever 10.29.2005 04:21 PM

im not sure about that but i have been told that the 7xl can be geared to run with it and still have more torque.
