To All Tekno converted revo owners with MMM and Neu motor...

Hi All,

now is crunch time, i am now at assembly point with my MMM and wing etc etc. i would like to know if theres any members with identical hardware as mine and would like to know if they have any pics on there setups. mainly because i want a general idea on how most setups are done and if i am doing anything the hard way. i have the revo setup to use the disk brake and running dual steering servos with the reverse servo still hooked up. i have the mmm with a neu 1515 motor. any pics up would be appreciated.

come on guys, surely i am not the only one with this exact cpmbo? or am i not looking in the right threads? i have seen pics but no full build pics. also with the MMM esc, direct solder to the motor or use bullet connectors? sis you guys use a hollow sleeve to solder the wire ends together or use the connectors?

Did you look at this: http://www.rc-monster.com/forum/show...283#post202283

There are serveral out there...

Direct soldering vs bullets is personal perference - Removes a point of failure but makes it harder to change things...

Depends on your soldering ability if you use a female bullet as party of the direct solder...

here is a link to a build thread

when I first started I started going through old threads, and I have gathered a lot of info in the past year

thanks for the response chaps. i have decicded on the hardwire. i used gold plated sleeves for soldering them together and made sure the wires connected inside the sleeves. its as solid as yo can get. i made sure there were no gaps at all between the sires inside the sleeves. now the power source..lifepo4 or li-po...hmmm:yes:

did anyone else find that the wires for the MMM werent long enough to mount on the tekno esc mounting tray? mine only go as far as the rear shocks. i will have to make an esc mount plate there and fasten it using longer shock screws and a spacer and use the esc mount for the radio. bit of a shame really. anyone else?

well its early days yet, as i just bought my first li-po pack. its only a starter pack 3200mah @ 7.4v just a cheap test pack. i have been fiddling with the punch control also. my gradual throttle inputs were a bit disappointing for me at first but then i floored it from starting throttle and the thing flipped! lesson to self, dont do that too often. this thing is going to be insane with a 11.1v and upwards in it. the wait was well worth it. now the real fun begins.

I reckon you should run 14.8V (4S) at an absolute minimum.

123revo 09.06.2008 08:28 AM

yes...yes... i am starting to see that is the way to go. baby steps. just eying up some good cells now for serious bashing. may look to do the old parallel setup to get the weight distribution right. a good excuse to power up to 2 packs in the revo.

well its been a while between updates. i have recently gone the electric motor brake route and ditched the mech brakes. i must say the car seems a little more brisk. or it could be the shock rebuild i did either way its zippy.

i still have the clutch bell but i gutted the clutch shoes and managed to turn something on the lathe to act as a locking adaptor. i used 2 dowel pins either side and drilled 2 holes into the clutch bell and into the locking bush. so i essentially have direct drive with reverse. it lasted for a few weeks up until 10 minutes ago. this motor has some serious power,so much that it has pushed one of the tapered steel dowels through a thick layer of devcon and almost all the way out!!!!!!

this is seriously insane!

the dowels were a press fit also and the layer of devcon was insurance.

so...now back to the drawing board it is for me.... i am amazed and annoyed at the same time.

use a pinion instead of the crappy clutch setup i switched after only abut 10 minutes with my brushless revo...

i did initially look into that but in my current situation i will need to have the motor moved forward in order to use a normal 5mm mod1 pinion.this means buying another different motor mount. i am also somewhat reserved about using the long shank pinions on the current setup as i am weary of loading up the front motor bearing. i will relent perhaps somewhere down the track, but until then, i am not giving up so easily.

I ditch my elektri-crap and went with a long-shank pinion. I moved the motor forward by using spacers.

Search for my revo conversion build. It has pictures in it.

there's no need to buy a new motor mount just look at the way i moved the motor forward:

or you can just about see it here:

just put some bolts inbetween the front motor mount part and the rear it works a treat although you will need longer screws...

oh what champs !!!, thanks heaps guys, will see how we go.sometimes you need others to point out what is hiding in plain sight. mod 1 5mm here i come.
