Neu 1521 1D temps?

Once I can afford it, I want to put a MMM and a Neu 1521 in my Losi Muggy and I am wondering if the 1D will run cool enough. My 1515 1.5D is a little lower KV and it runs perfectly, but I just want to make sure I'll be OK before I dish out the money for it. If it will work, what gearing should I run for 40 series or Maxx wheels?

If the 1.5D works perfect, why change it? I think the 1D draws about twice the amps of the 1.5D, you may have more trouble keeping things cool.

I guess. I was just thinking of running the 1D because it will run better on lower voltages. Will the finned can fit in the Muggy?

what voltage ae you running?

Must be 4s...

you would think if you are running a 1515/1.5d that you would run it w/4s but people have been pushing them hard running them on 6s especially in ERevos

Finned can fits the Muggy fine, can go down to 10 or 11 tooth pinion no problem.

Yes, I'm running 4s and it performs awesome.

What pinion would you recommend? I have 20T and 24T mod 1 pinions, I was going to try the 20T on the 1515 and see if I need to gear down from there but with the torque of a 1521 I am expecting to be using a large pinion. I will most likely be running Big Joes offroad pretty hard so I'll gear a little short of normal.

if you want to go with a 1521 I would go with the 1.5d instead of the 1d...kv of the 1.5d is around 2000 and that would be plenty on 4s especially with the increased torque over the 1515 can

I agree 100%. The lower KV will help with the amp draw, thus saving some of your runtime (but you probably already know that).

Alright, I'll go with the 1D. That'll actually be more convenient because Mike stocks them, I won't have to order them elsewhere :) I'm still a ways away from being able to afford it though. Any suggestions for gearing the Muggy with the 1515 or the 1521?
