MMM's on the way, now what Nue to occompany it?
getting pretty close to the purchase of my motor, and just want to make sure i,m getting what i should. I am looking at : 1515 1y (2200kv), 1515 2D (2050kv) and 1515 2.5 D (1650kv). I am currently leaning towards the 2d as it is somewhere in between. looking to run 4s now and 6s later if/when 4s gets too slow, that,s where i would see the 2.5 as being the better choice, but i dont know if it will perform as well on 4s. also i think the 1y wont like 6s too much, getting high on the rpm's. Just want to make sure that my $250 is gonna get me what i need.

I want an answer to this too, will gearing matter with the motors? was hopping to hit about 50 on 6s with the mmm
I was going to get the 1y but now i'm not sure if i can run 4s on it. would like to be able to run 4s for longer run time and bashing this is for an erevo |
I think you need to consider availability into your equation… I can’t find a decent 1515 can Neu or Teckno-Neu anywhere!!!

2.5 is very versatile - 4s it will gear up, 5s is perfect, 6s is insane...
It was my choice... If mike can't get you one there are places with them in stock. |
I was actually thinking of building one from Nue's site, but if i could find one on here i wouldn't mind buying it either. Ive never bought one before so i'm not sure which way is better to go.

Would a 1515 1/y work good in a E Revo? I may be getting one sometime, and still have all my electronics to drop in. Also, what gearing would work well with the stock diffs if I don;t go to 1/8th right of way?

1y is good for 6s, 20-24t pinions / 58-68t spurs. 2.5d on 4s is a little faster than stock twins but w/ lots of torque, depending on gearing.

I guess my question is what gearing with the stock e revo with 1515 1/y. Meanign, what pinion running 5s, or 4s?

I have my 2.5d geared for ~43mph on my erevo on 4s lipo and it does great.. 22/54 it's actually perfect for the race track, just right on the top end and explosive on the bottom.

I kind of doubt that at only 24k RPM's. On 6s with a 2.5d you're only good gearing up to about 50 and 45 is about right.

Still doesn't mean the motor can make it. I can put a micro motor on there and make it say I can drive it at 100 mph, it still won't happen.......
The calculator is simply a useful tool to aid you with a setup, it is not the end all be all. |
I've asked this before, and only kinda got an answer - what RPM should we be shooting for on a Neu? Somewhere in the mid to low 30's is what I presumed. I'm slated to gear mine at 30/54 and run it on 6S - possibly 4S.

From what most experience, the 35k to 40k rpm's is generally seen to be most efficient for our uses.

35-40k is most efficient for the motor (typically), but at lower RPMs they seem to run cooler. For example, many people including myself have used the Neu 1512 2.5D (2050 kv) on 4s Lipo (~29,000 top RPM) with excellent results. I do run other setups at up to 40K RPM, though, and those work equally well.
